PROFILE:

Current BSc Environmental Management and Sustainability student at University of Plymouth with
a specific interest in climate change, socio-economic problems, and wildlife protection. I have
experience in the volunteering sector having worked with organizations like the RSPB and
developed important practical skills. My extensive experience through working in hospitality and
labour jobs has provided me with good people skills and a solid work ethic. I have a strong passion
for sustainability and environmental issues. Therefore, I'm determined to make any contribution I
can, whether it's through research, education, or field work, to a brighter future.

KEY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE AREAS:

 Confident to work under own initiative or as part of a team

 A creative approach to problem solving and an eye for detail
 Comfortable when working under stress and pressure
 Practical and fast learner

 Communication and social outreach

 Geographical information systems and mapping
 Rewilding
 Sustainable food systems

EXPERIENCE:
Hospitality Jobs (2017- Current)
I have worked in many different jobs in the hospitality industry, usually for income whilst studying.
This has been front of house, kitchen and in supervisor capacity. I have worked in variety of places
such as hotels, events hospitality, and bars, all bringing different challenges and forcing me to
develop crucial skills. I am now much more comfortable working under pressure and
communicating.

Volunteering
The majority of my volunteering has been with the RSPB, an organization with a focus on
maintaining nature reserves and conservation projects. This was very practical work involving
control of invasive species and building infrastructure for public areas and parks. I am keen to find
more opportunities working outside. I have also worked with rewilding projects in Devon and
Dorset.

data management, Geographical information systems (GiS)

topics surrounding the environment and sustainability. Importantly this course has taught

Positive Food Futures Course- The Eden Project

Completed in September 2022, this was an amazing opportunity ran by the Eden project in
Cornwall (UK). The course looked at modern farming systems and how they can be improved, we
had a lot of interesting panel discussions with guest speakers. Through this I feel much more
comfortable discussing environmental issues in an open-inclusive manor and I am pursuing this
subject area in my university work.

INTERESTS AND HOBBIES

Fundraising
I have taken part in both group and solo fundraising projects for several charities. Though the
nature of these projects varies, I enjoy pushing myself outside of my comfort zone and learning new
things. As an example, last year I walked 180 miles in 6 days solo for Julian’s house a charity based
in Southwest England, I raised just under £700.

Hiking and Climbing

I find hiking is my way to escape the city and stay fit. I am a member of my universities Wilderness
and Expedition Medicine society, which involves going on hikes but also learning about first
aid/health and safety whilst being outdoors. My experience hiking makes me very keen to work
outside and in-nature.

Other hobbies;
- Member of the University of Plymouth’s Lacrosse team
- Guitar
- Cooking
