Taking Care of Orphans

Sahl bin Saad (‫( عنه هلال رضي‬reported that the Messenger of Allah ( ‫صلى‬
‫( هللا عليه وسلم‬said):

" ً ‫وأشار بالسبابة والوسطى وفرج بينهما شيئا‬،"‫أنا وكافل اليتيم في الجنة هكذا‬. “

I will be like this in Paradise with the person who takes care of an
orphan”. And the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) raised his index finger
and middle finger by way of illustration.” [Narrated by Al-Bukhari]

‫ كافل‬:A person who takes care of an orphan

‫ اليتيم‬:A young child who lost his father

‫السبابة‬:"The index finger

Taking care of orphans compensates them for the love of their lost
parent. The Prophet ( PBUH) indicated the high status of those who
take care of orphans and that they have a place close to the place of
the Messenger of Allah ( PBUH) in Paradise, using his fingers to
illustrate this

Allah (SWT) ordered the guardian not to take fees if he is rich.

Complete the following hadith:

The Prophet Muhammad said, If you want your heart to be soft feed
the poor and wipe the head of an orphan ------------

The following ayah "‫" تقهر فال اليتيم فأما‬is from Surah al –Duha

Note :( Typing error is there in Ayah read it correctly)

Allah softens the Heart by doing good deeds.

Taking care of an orphan means:


1. Honoring them

2. Providing them with basic needs

3. Feeding them,

4. Education, love

5. Give them money

The UAE has taken care of orphans in the country and established
centers for them like: Red Crescent, Dar Al-Birr, Bayt Al-Khair

The benefits of taking care of orphans for society:

1. Love

2. Security

3. Stability

The benefits of taking care of orphans for the orphan:

They will be good members of the community.

Merits of Taking Care of Orphans:

Words: I will be like this in Paradise with the person who takes care of
the orphans.

Deeds: He raised his index finger and middle finger by way of


illustration.
