Task 2: Personal Insights.

For Teachers

“Kids don’t remember what you try to teach them.

They remember what you are.”
-Jim Henson

I totally agree with this quote because, as a current student, I really see my teachers and
professors as my mentors, who have the capacity to not just teach me but to also mold me as
a better individual. They are the ones who influenced me the most, aside from my family and
peers. That is why teachers are more remembered for how they impact the lives of every
student. They are more recognized for their role beyond teaching ideas and concepts.

“Those who know do. Those who understand, teach.”

-Aristotle

Even without comprehending anything, we can know it. What a difference it makes, then,
when we comprehend; when the matter at hand isn't just something we know a little bit about,
but rather something we have firsthand knowledge of how it feels.
We would serve as educators, imparting wisdom as well as knowledge. Children absorb
knowledge in the classroom, but education is also about how they employ that knowledge
outside of the classroom. Children's lives are worth investing in through education.

“I never teach my pupils, I only attempt

to provide the conditions in which they can learn.”
-Albert Einstein

Our inclination is to spoon-feed, and occasionally even force-feed, our students or young
learners. Providing information appears to be the quickest method of knowledge transfer.
However, it is the least efficient method of instruction. On the other hand, if we focus more
on the ancillary aspects, learning becomes relevant and well-tolerated. Other intangible and
intrinsic variables, like the learner's purpose for learning, motivation, self-belief, etc., are also
important in ensuring learning engagement.

Personal Insights:
For Learners

“Bodily exercise, when compulsory, does no harm

to the body, but knowledge which is acquired under
compulsion obtains no hold on the mind.”
-Plato

Knowledge acquisition should be done freely not compulsory. In this context, freedom over
compulsion is the norm. Let’s admit it: we cannot force our minds to understand something if
we don’t allow it. By this philosophy, one should expect that the brain will automatically
prioritize what to obtain and what not to.

“Live as it you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if

you were to live forever.”
-Mahatma Gandhi

We all know that learning is a never-ending process—it is lifelong. We are not supposed to
stop learning even if we have graduated with our bachelor’s degree. Every day is a fresh start
to learn something new--ideas, strategies, innovations that might lead us to become the best
version of ourselves. Know that there is no overdosage when it comes to learning and
acquiring knowledge.

“Never let hard lesson harden your heart; the hard

lessons of life are meant to make you feel better, not bitter.”
-Roy T. Bennett

In life, sometimes we need to undergo struggles just to teach us lessons and correct our
behaviors. This are more essential to transforming us to become better. This may be difficult-
to-accept life lessons, but at the end of the day, you will understand why it happened and that
everything happens for a reason.
