1. Scope

 This CMS define requirements for construction of cellar base and walls.

3. Responsibilities

Construction Manager – is responsible for overall management of the job with


Quality and safety as per approved drawing and method statement.

Quality Manager – is responsible to ensure any discrepancies or contradictions are resolved


prior to the commencement of work on a project.

Quality Supervisor – is responsible to make sure that execution of work is implemented with
approved procedure & specification.

Site Engineer – is responsible to ensure that concerned work force is familiar with the activity,
hazards and mitigated effects of the situation and are responsible to ensure that the works
are carried out as per approved IFCs and applicable project standards.

Surveyor – is responsible to ensure that all Surveying Work is in accordance to approved data
and recorded well.

Site Foreman – is responsible to ensure that the work crew is familiar with the safety
requirement of the activity.

The safety of all personnel, equipment and plant operations will be the responsibility of the
Construction Manager in coordination with the Site Engineer.

4. Methodology
4.1 Levelling & Compacting of Cellar base

 Tools shall be inspected before and after use, as well as before storage
 Personnel shall not operate any tools unless they are appropriately trained in their
selection, use, inspection, and storage
 Tools constructed of good quality materials shall be used. Use of “homemade”
tools is prohibited.
 The correct type, size and weight of tool shall be used for each task.
 Ensure that sharp edged objects are properly capped/covered with visible warning
signs
 Execute proper manual handling/lifting technique
 Ensure that walkway and working area is free from any obstruction
 Proper racks and boxes shall be provided and used for storage of tools.

4.2 Formation of Rebar formworks

 Personnel shall not operate any tools unless they are appropriately trained in their
selection, use, inspection, and storage
 Proper tools shall be used.
 Tools shall be inspected before and after use, as well as before storage
 Excessively worn, defective or deformed tools shall not be used. If excessive wear,
defect, or damage is observed, the tool shall be immediately tagged and
withdrawn from use for repair or disposal.
 Proper racks and boxes shall be provided and used for storage of tools.
 Protruding rebar shall be protected with rebar caps/cover
 Materials and tools shall be set back at least 2ft from the edge of the excavation
 The correct type, size and weight of tool shall be used for each task.
 Provide and use proper platform on elevated installation.
 Adequate, proper, and secured access shall be installed

4.3 Installation of Formworks and Shuttering

 Personnel shall not operate any tools unless they are appropriately trained in their
selection, use, inspection, and storage
 Tools constructed of good quality materials shall be used. Use of “homemade”
tools is prohibited.
 Tools shall be always kept clean.
 Tools shall be inspected before and after use, as well as before storage
 Excessively worn, defective or deformed tools shall not be used. If excessive wear,
defect, or damage is observed, the tool shall be immediately tagged and
withdrawn from use for repair or disposal.
 Proper racks and boxes shall be provided and used for storage of tools.

 Proper and secured access shall be installed
 Walkway and working area shall be free from any loose materials and obstructions
 Materials and tools shall be set back at least 2ft from the edge of the excavation

4.4 Concrete pouring using concrete mixer and concrete pump, vibrator

 Concrete pumping equipment shall be manufactured, inspected, and operated in


accordance with ASME B30.27
 Only personnel trained, certified, and given written authorization by their
employer for the specific piece of equipment they are operating shall operate
concrete pumping equipment.
 Materials and tools shall be set back at least 2ft from the edge of the excavation
 Material placement crew (personnel other than the operator responsible for the
placing and finishing of the material delivered by the concrete pumping
equipment) members shall be confirmed competent in their specific
responsibilities
 The operator shall never divert his attention from the operation at any time and
never leave the concrete pumping equipment unattended when it is operating.
 A spotter/signalman shall be always used, and the operator shall respond to signals
from the spotter and to any stop signal from any person.
 Equipment shall not be used as a crane or hoist to lift objects or loads other than
equipment specified by the manufacturer to be attached to the boom.
 Hoses or other components of the delivery system shall not be dragged by the
equipment.
 The concrete pump shall not be moved without the outriggers or boom properly
stowed as required by the manufacturer.
 The concrete pump shall not be operated in lightning or when the wind speed is
greater than 32 km/h (20 mph).
 Concrete pumping equipment shall be located on stable ground with outriggers
deployed if equipped.
 Execute proper manual handling/lifting technique
 Provide and use proper platform on elevated installation. Use full body harness
when required
 Walkway and working area shall be free from any loose materials and obstructions
 Proper and secured access shall be installed.

4.5 Removal of shuttering

 Proper tools shall be used.


 Homemade/fabricated tools are not allowed
 Tools shall be inspected before and after use, as well as before storage

 Excessively worn, defective or deformed tools shall not be used. If excessive wear,
defect, or damage is observed, the tool shall be immediately tagged and
withdrawn from use for repair or disposal.
 Proper racks and boxes shall be provided and used for storage of tools.

4.6 Bitumastic coating for Cellar

 Only trained person shall commence the activity


 Wash hands thoroughly after commencing the activity
 First aid kit shall be readily available at site
 Hand tools shall be inspected prior to use

5. Safety

 The health and safety will perform a splendid role in all construction activities to ensure
that all the works are being carried out in a safe manner and creating a healthy
environment at site. All works performed by individuals will comply with the Client
health and Safety Standards.

 Ensured that all site personnel involved use their PPE. Housekeeping and safe access
properly maintained all the time. All the signs install prior to start the job.

 Site Supervisor will conduct daily toolbox meetings and explain the requirements of the
Client and other special needs to make and maintain a safe working environment.

 If there is any unsafe condition, Workers/ Equipment shall not be allowed to enter the
area.

 All activities will be carried out safely in accordance with Contractor’s HS plan approved
by the Client.

 Contractor will document all necessary record and will represent to Aramco Inspection
team for review and approval.
