1. Scope
The following method statement summarizes the guidelines for backfilling, levelling, and
compacting of trenches and excavations at well head or remote header tie-in areas.

3. Responsibilities
Quality Supervisor – is responsible to make sure that execution of work is implemented with
approved procedure & specification.
Site Engineer – is responsible to ensure that concerned work force is familiar with the activity,
hazards and mitigated effects of the situation and are responsible to ensure that the works
are carried out as per approved IFCs and applicable project standards.
Surveyor – is responsible to ensure that all Surveying Work is in accordance to approved data
and recorded well.
Site Foreman – is responsible to ensure that the work crew is familiar with the safety
requirement of the activity.
The safety of all personnel, equipment and plant operations will be the responsibility of the
Construction Manager in coordination with the Site Engineer.

4. Methodology
4.1 COLLECTING OF BACKFILL MATERIALS (Sand & Marl)
Personnel shall not work within the boom radius while backhoe is in operation or
where they could be struck by any part of the backhoe.
Only authorized personnel shall be allowed to enter the work area where mechanical
and heavy equipment is in operation. When entering the work area, authorized
personnel shall make direct eye contact with the equipment operator(s) to ensure
their presence is known.
Trained grounds men or flagmen shall be used when human traffic is present in a
heavy equipment work area.
Operators shall ensure the work area is clear prior to operating mechanical and heavy
equipment.
When an operator cannot see the entire area around the equipment,
attendants/spotters wearing high-visibility (e.g., reflective) fluorescent vests shall
direct and assist the operator.
Engines shall be stopped, the parking brake applied, and wheels chocked when
mechanical or heavy equipment is left unattended
Blades, buckets, scraper bowls, and other hydraulic components shall be lowered to
the ground when it is left unattended. Ignition keys shall be removed and/or battery
cables disconnected to avoid startup by unauthorized personnel.
Personnel shall not ride in or work off any part of the equipment unless it is specifically
designed for such work.
Operators shall possess a valid Saudi Arabian government (SAG) heavy equipment
license and a certification per GI 7.025 (as required) for operation of the specific heavy
equipment
Dump bodies shall be fully lowered before leaving the dump area.
Dumper skip latches shall be in good working order. The release mechanism shall
function smoothly
Designate entry point and exit point for the equipment
Equipment operators shall have 360-degree visibility when operating equipment (e.g.,
curtains/cardboard shall not obstruct the operator’s view).
Windows shall be always kept clean and shall be replaced if the glass becomes pitted,
cracked, or broken.
Spray water around the area to control the dust
Heavy equipment shall be equipped with audible reverse alarm, camera, and PWAS
Heavy equipment shall be kept at least 3 meters away from any existing facility.

4.2 BACKFILLING
Operators shall possess a valid Saudi Arabian government (SAG) heavy equipment
license and a certification per GI 7.025 (as required) for operation of the specific heavy
equipment
When an operator cannot see the entire area around the equipment,

Only trained and competent operator with valid SAG license can operate the Roller
compactor

5. Safety
The health and safety will perform a splendid role in all construction activities to ensure
that all the works are being carried out in a safe manner and creating a healthy
environment at site. All works performed by individuals will comply with the Client health
and Safety Standards.
Ensured that all site personnel involved use their PPE. Housekeeping and safe access
properly maintained all the time. All the signs install prior to start the job.
Site Supervisor will conduct daily toolbox meetings and explain the requirements of the
Client and other special needs to make and maintain a safe working environment.
If there is any unsafe condition, Workers/ Equipment shall not be allowed to enter the
area.
All activities will be carried out safely in accordance with Contractor’s HS plan approved by
the Client.
6. Reporting
Contractor will document all necessary record and will represent to Aramco Inspection
team for review and approval.
