Adjustment procedure of sensor S7 at entrance to exposure


feed unit

1. If red/brown bands appear at paper ends, Blower


take off the paper guide assembly brush
and use an air brush or the like to
Sensor S7
clean entrance sensor S7 (photo 1) surface
as well as the sensor S7 reflection
surface (in black plastic foam) on the
paper guide assembly (photo 2).
When doing this, check to see that Feed base
the sensor S7 surface is dirt-free assembly
and none of the black plastic foam around
the reflection surface hole is torn off or deformed.

2. When the symptoms are still


developed after the cleaning
mentioned above, take the Photo 1
following steps.

3. Check for any paper transport


problems that may exist.
3-1. Set the largest paper size
magazine to the printer.
3-2. Print the image center
checking chart.
Select “2. Maintenance”→“4.
Printer”→“5. Adjust head Reflection
position,” and print surface hole
three prints by clicking “Print.”

4. Turn off the printer breaker.

5. Take off the exposure feed unit Photo 2


from the printer (DP1000) (photo 3).

6. Take off pinch rollers 4, 5, and 6 from the exposure feed unit.

7. Remove the four set screws on the feed base assembly (photo 3), and turn over the
feed base assembly (photo 4). (When doing this, be careful not to damage sensor
cable
plugged into the assembly.)

8. Loosen the two set screws holding sensor S7 (entrance sensor) on the sensor bracket,
and push the sensor bracket as much to the sub-drive side as possible.
Note: The scope for adjustment is afforded only by the play (± 0.3 mm) in the sensor
bracket screw hole.
9. Restore the printer to the former Set screws
condition (ready for printing) in
the reverse order of the steps
described above. Exposure

10. Turn on the printer breaker.

11. Check for any paper transport


problems that may exist after Exposure
the changes. feed unit
11-1. Set the largest paper
size magazine to the printer.
11-2. Print the image center
checking chart.
Select “2. Maintenance”→ Feed base
“4. Printer”→“5. Adjust head component
position,” and produce three
prints by clicking “Print.”

12. Compare the head position


adjustment charts printed before
and after changing the sensor S7

bracket position. The adjustment
is done if they are the same.
Should any difference be noticed,
readjust it according to repair manual.
