Problem statement

According to UITM Shah Alam student mission state, the student seeks from the
university to provide the student dormitories, since high percentage of UITM Shah Alam student
spend significant amount of time doing their work of studies in campus by means of access the
use of facility in campus. Not to mention that it is easier for the student to travel between
classes from the dormitories compare to student that stays outside of the campus.
However, majority of UITM Shah Alan student that applied for the request to stay in
campus dormitories are rejected due to Oct - Feb 2022 semester intakes which is insanely
higher than the intake before thus causes a lot of hardship especially for Sabah and Sarawak
students despite it is stated that UITM prioritize to accommodate students from these parts of
origin. This also cause majority of student is forced to sought accommodation outside of the
campus range by any means, whether renting a house or rooms where most of it contains a
large sum of deposit stated in the contract demand by the renter.
Also, majority of UITM student does not possess any vehicles, hence this makes it
harder for the student to come and goes in the campus to access the facilities in UITM Shah
Alam campus to due to lack of transport and inadequacy coverage of UITM bus stop point.
In respond to this problem, our study proposes to investigate several options of solution
to provide UITM Shah Alam student accommodations. We plan to carry out an all-inclusive
investigation into option of acquiring more dormitories outside of the campus since there is no
spaces to build more inside campus. We will also consider to extend the UITM Shah Alam bus
route to the student accommodation out of campus to ease the lacks of transportation for outer
dormitories inhabitants.

Scope of Study
The purpose of this study is to investigate student accommodation among university
student in UITM Shah Alam. This study covers several scopes as follows:

 To investigate the percentage of students inflicted due to lack of

dormitories accommodate by UITM Shah Alam
 To determine the causes of rejection on student application to apply for
dormitories in UITM Shah Alam campus.
 To find out the area coverage of majority UITM Shah Alam student
resides outside the campus suggestion* t
