My name is Morgan LeGrand, and I am writing in regards to any openings in your

district. Currently, I am completing my education and student teaching in a sixth grade English
Language Arts classroom. When I graduate in December, I will graduate with a Bachelor of
Science in Early Childhood Education from South Dakota State University, as well as a Bachelor
of Science in Elementary Education through the Dakota State Universities Teacher Education
Program.

My skills, experience, and teaching philosophy have prepared me to be a passionate

and determined educator. My experience at SDSU (South Dakota State University) and DSU
(Dakota State University) have shown me how to be confident in my teaching approaches,
lesson planning, and creating a positive classroom environment for all students. I am passionate
towards educating children and encouraging students to inherit a growth mindset throughout
their years in school. Some of my skills that would make me an excellent student teacher
candidate are reliability, a hard worker, a good teammate, and a leader. All of these qualities
have guided me to the position I am in today.

In addition to numerous courses in child development I have taken throughout my

college experience; including child-development courses, psychology, inquiry & play, content &
pedagogy, etc... I have had multiple experiences in early childhood education and elementary
education, including assistant teacher in a kindergarten classroom, student teaching in a three
and four year-old preschool classroom, practicum experiences in a second grade classroom,
and currently student teaching in a sixth grade classroom, as previously stated.

Along with this letter, my portfolio shows my work through being in the college of
education, completed work samples, reference letters, as well as lesson plans. I believe I am a
great fit for your district because I value a strong, personalized education, and I value each
