Review Previous Lectures of week 2

In week 2 lecture 1, we have continued the chapter “Analyzing Business Goals &
Constraints” and we started discussing “Analyzing Business Goals”. We have discussed about
working with your client and the critical point which’s actually about understanding customer’s
business objectives and we have learned about main points to explore which are client’s market,
suppliers, products, services, and competitive advantages with an example of tissue company.
For technologies and products, we need to know about company’s level. We have also discussed
about organizational structure, user communities and characterize traffic flow, recognizing
management hierarchy, and corporate culture which is all about total products in company, &
how much delivered etc. The most important point is all about “who the decision makers are?
and who will have the authority to accept or reject your network design proposal?”. Next point
was about asking to the customer about overall goal of the corporation which highlights the
business purpose. We also have discussed about those questions which we prepare before
meeting, we’ll also see weak points, satisfaction criteria, partnership and ability of increase
revenue for success in the corporation, consequences of failure.
Next we have discussed about “Changes in Enterprise Network”. Here we talk about
availability of data to corporate employees, customers, partners and all. Those companies which
don’t give access of the data to customers is no longer the standard, and to remain competitive in
the industry reducing product development time is important.
In week 2 lecture 2, we have discussed about “Network must make business sense”
where we are talking about IT decisions, network upgrades and network design solutions.
Network technologies were critical of mission. At some organizations significant networking and
telecommunications operating budgets have been very high. Companies are exploring ways to
make power, cabling, racks, storage, and WAN circuits more effective for their data centers.
Our next topic was “Network offer a service” which is our core topic. Here we have
discussed about service oriented IT departments, IT service management which defines
framework and processes for IT service analysis. We have also discussed about governance and
compliance. Next we have discussed “The need to support mobile users” where we have
discussed about wireless networking, notebook computers, secure and reliable access to data.
The challenge for network designers for allowing data to travel from wireless and wired network
securely, we also have discussed the biggest trend VPN.
The last topic of the week under discussion is “The importance of network security and
resiliency”. Here, we have talked about security and discussed enterprise must protect their
networks from unsophisticated and advanced attacks like protecting networks from Trojan horses
and viruses.
