DISEASES CAUSED BY PATHOGENS
Virus: Human papillomavirus
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a viral infection that’s passed between people through skin-to-skin contact.
There are over 100 varieties of HPV, more than 40Trusted Source of which are passed through sexual
contact and can affect your genitals, mouth, or throat.

Bacteria: Salmonella sp.

Salmonella infection (salmonellosis) is a common bacterial disease that affects the intestinal tract.
Salmonella bacteria typically live in animal and human intestines and are shed through feces. Humans
become infected most frequently through contaminated water or food.

Protozoa: Plasmodium sp.

The malaria parasites enter that person's bloodstream and travel to the liver. When the parasites mature, they
leave the liver and infect red blood cells. Malaria is caused by a single-celled parasite of the genus
plasmodium. The parasite is transmitted to humans most commonly through mosquito bites.
Fungi: Tine asp.
Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS), sometimes known as Hughes syndrome, is a disorder of the immune
system that causes an increased risk of blood clots. This means people with APS are at greater risk of
developing conditions such as: deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot that usually develops in the leg.
