WHAT EXACTLY IS “TV WHITE SPACE”?

• TV White Space refers to the unused TV channels

between the active ones in the VHF and UHF spectrum.

• It is applied in a Point to Multipoint wireless LAN Network

• These are typically referred to as the “buffer” channels. In

the past, these buffers were placed between active TV
channels to protect broadcasting interference.

• It has since been researched and proven that this unused

spectrum can be used to provide broadband Internet
access while operating harmoniously with surrounding TV
channels.

Multipoint Links to CPE’s provide
the Fixed Wireless Network.

At the CPE a WiFi Router/Access

Point (AP) is installed to provide Wi-
Fi / Internet access

At the CPE an outdoor Wi-Fi mesh

network can be established to
provide Wi-Fi coverage over a
larger area. Using Multiple SSID’s
individual accounts plus public Wi-Fi
access can be provided from the
same AP

Backhaul is required from the Base

Station to a Data Centre with
Internet breakout to provide internet
across the network.

on the RF and PoE
connections.

It is essential that the surge

arrestors must be connected
to a structure that is earthed.

The Sector Antennae must

be at least 1m apart
horizontally.

RECOMMENDED CPE INSTALLATION
• When installing the CPE
the Antenna must be in
direction of base station
sector

• The Antenna must be

installed Horizontally to
ensure correct polarization

• It is essential to ensure
both the RF and the PoE
surge protection is
installed

• It is suggested that the

antenna is installed at
least 6m above ground
