AANKHON DEKHI

Answer the following questions based on the movie ‘Aankhon dekhi’. Each question carries 5 marks.

Q.1: Discuss the role that interiors and lighting plays in the
introductory scene (sequence from 3:32 to 7:00), in 200-250 words
max.

ans- this is the introduction scene where all the family members are
together including the neighbor's son. the lighting in this roon is very
low as there is only one bulb glowing. lighting in this scene also shows
that that this is a night scene. the interior of the house is not in that
good state. the interior clearly shows that the house is built in village,
similarly the structure of the house is what a house is like in a village.
there is a curtain which is dividing the frame in two. also there is a door
on the right side which is not in a good condition. and then in the front
there is a bed where raja babu is sitting. the walls of the room also
indicates that the interior of the house is old.
Q.2: Compare the camera pan movement and editing between these
two scenes, in 200-250 words max.

(first sequence 21:47 to 24:04, discussion on terrace AND second

sequence 1:29:06 to 1:32:04)

First
sequence

Second
sequence

ans- in the first scene the family has organized a party for their relatives
and neighbors where they're having a discussion. the camera is fixed in
a single angle and the people in the frame are moving here and there
showing pan movement. if we talk about the editing there is no scene
which continuously goes on, which means there are more of cut
scenes.
whereas the second scene is of inside the house where the family
members are preparing for something. again the camera is again in
fixed position and the people in the frame are moving which shows pan
movement. raja babu is dividing the frame in two which shows that the
frame in not balanced. colours are also playing there role as they show
a contrast in the scene.
the editing is done in a way that the frame looks rough as the interior of
the house .the interior again shows the old house of a village. the
lighting shows that the scene was shot in evening
