Likeness and Unlikeness

The first journal not only contains a figurative language analysis of his poetry but also
contains a biography of Oscar Wild. What all journals have in common is that they discuss
the figurative language found in poems with 5 different authors. all journals also use the
same research method, namely qualitative research.

Research Title and The Reasearch Methodology

Exploring figurative language in William Shakespeare’s selected poem

The research was designed as a descriptive qualitative study. Similarly, Berg in Muhammad
(2014) states that qualitative research “Refers to the meaning, concepts, definition,
charateristics, metaphors, symbols, and descriptions of things”. According this definition,
qualitative research goals for description of the object. The researcher employed descriptive
qualitative method because it analyzed the data and then described the finding to answer the
research question. This method used to describe the kind of five figurative that found in the
poems by and William Shakespeare, and to analyze the implied meaning of the poems. In this
study, the writer took only 3 poems as the sample, which assumes representing the typical of
William shakespeares poems. The selected poem that was discussed are as below:
1. A fairy song
2. Venus and Adonis
3. Winter

Type of the research is descriptive qualitative. Descriptive qualitative is applied to solve the
problem by collecting, classifying and analyzing a certain situation objectively.
 Collecting. The first step is collecting three poems by Oscar Wilde from the
references.
 Classifying. After the writer had finished collected the poems, the writer classified
each poems based on the kind of figurative language.
 Analyzing. In this step, the writer analyzed the contextual meaning of each figurative
language.
