We have been learning about the foundation
stone of being generous. Right now, let us look at
the development and the overflow of generosity
in a person’s heart.
PROBING QUESTION: In 2 Cor. 8:1-7, what was
the financial condition of the people in
Macedonia and what was their attitude in the
midst of their condition? Ans: Macedonia was in
extreme poverty, but despite this, they overflowed
with generosity.
KNOW THIS: God touches the Christian heart to
overflow with generosity during extreme hardship
and poverty for Him to bring blessings.
LEADING QUESTION: In the following verses, what
does God pour into the Christian heart in the hard
times? Ans:

2 Cor. 8:2 – Abundant joy
SHARING QUESTION: In 2 Cor. 8:2, we can find that
the people of Macedonia overflowed with a wealth
of generosity. How is this different from a wealth of
money?
PRINCIPLE TO LEARN: God does not look at how
much you give. He looks at the generosity of your
heart.
APPLICATION: Think of someone who is in need and
think of how you can be a blessing to that person.

KNOW THIS: The Greek word for “deliberate” means “voluntarily"
or “of one's own accord.“
FOLLOW-UP QUESTION: What are the characteristics of a
deliberate sin based on Heb. 10:26? Ans:
(1) Continuous: not one-time but a consistent choice of lifestyle
(2) With full knowledge - not done in ignorance

deliberate/intentional sin & unintentional sin?

They are trampling under their foot the Son of God.
They treat the blood of the covenant as common and unholy.
They insult the Spirit of grace.
PROBING QUESTION: What can we learn from Heb. 10:30-31 and
Deut. 32:35-36 about God's character? Ans: God never changes.
He made a promise to bring judgment and He will do it.
II. PAUL’S ENCOURAGEMENT TO REMAIN FAITHFUL
PROBING QUESTION: In Heb. 10:32 NLT, what will keep Christians
true to God? Ans: Remembering will keep us true to God.
KNOW THIS: The term “memory” is a very strong word which
means “to call over in your minds one by one.”
LEADING QUESTION: Paul encouraged them to remember the
struggle and sufferings they had. According to Heb. 10:33-34,
what did they have to go through as they remained true to their
faith? Ans:
There was personal, public persecution.
They were standing side by side with their friends who suffered
the same.
They identified with their brothers in prison.
Their property was confiscated, and they accepted it joyfully.
