LESSON 1

WHAT I CAN DO

1.) > mewling - cry feebly or querulously; whimper.

> satchel - a bag carried on the shoulder by a long strap.
> furnace - an enclosed structure in which material can be heated to very
high temperatures.
> woeful - characterized by, expressive of, or causing sorrow or misery.
> oblivion - being unaware or unconscious of what is happening.

2.) depicts the seven ages of man which represents the stages in life of a man:
First age: Infant
Second age: Schoolboy
Third age: Lover
Fourth age: Soldier
Fifth age: Justice
Sixth age: Old man
Seventh age: Death

3.) According to the poem, the schoolboy is whining with his satchel, creeping like
a snail,
and is unwilling to go to school. We often see children behaving like this when
its time to go to school
and find it hard to go out of their homes and study which is very understandable
for their age.

How do I feel about these pictures of childhood?

I felt happy yet sad at the same time. It was very nostalgic for me. I realised I
have been growing these past few years
and will still continue to grow and learn many valuable stuff in the near future.

4.) "World" is compared to the "stage" in the first two lines. Both are related
because the stage is set for performances
so as the world is set for true to life experiences.

5.) In the 13th and 14th lines of the poem, reputation is compared to a bubble.

6.) As the man reached the sixth age, signs of aging shows in his physical
appearance and metabolism.
As the man reached the seventh age, the old man whose age is growing yet returning
to a child.

7.) I agree with the description of old age.

All of us we are to arrive at an age where we are just waiting for life to pass by.
But before going to that point in life,
we start small. We'll eventually reach the age where learned about reasoning and
difficulties of life.
We became old there’s no stopping that, but that doesn’t mean our adventures and
life should stop just because
a few joints refuse to work like before.

8.) Old age can be also describe as a person whose obligation to life has already
been fulfilled, that makes a great
contribution to society. Old age is the society of people that deserve to be
respected and honored for what they did
throughout their existence. They deserve the utmost care and honorifics for
themselves.
9.) The lines in the poem repeated it four times to catch the attention of the
readers to make them feel the emotions in it.

10.)

1.first the infant mewling and puking in the nurses arms

2.Then the school boy with his satchel and shining morning face, creeping
like snail unwillingly to school.
3.then the lover sighing like a furnace, with a woeful ballad
Made to his mistress' eyebrows
4.then a soldier full of strange oaths and bearded like a pard
5.then the justice in fair round belly with good capon lined,
with eyes severe and beard of formal cut
6.the sixth age shifts into the lean and slippered pantaloon,
with spectacles on nose and pouch on side
7.And whistles in his voice, last scene of all is second childishness
and mere oblivion
