BOIL WATER NOTICE

Loss of pressure in Town of Ellisburg Water District No. 2 .

( name of Public Water System )

BOIL YOUR WATER BEFORE USING

Bring tap water to a rolling boil, boil for one minute, and cool before using.
Or use bottled water certified for sale by the New York State Department of
Health. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, washing
dishes, brushing teeth, and preparing food until further notice.

This Boil Water Notice applies to Water District No. 2 Users, in the Town of Ellisburg and
encompassing the Hamlet of Belleville.

What Happened ?

At about 7:00 AM (time) on Friday, November 25th (date) the water system is anticipated to lose
pressure due to the necessary emergency replacement of watermain piping serving Water District No. 2.
When water mains lose pressure it increases the chance that untreated water and harmful microbes can
enter your water.

Harmful microbes in drinking water can cause diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches, or other symptoms
and may pose a special health risk for infants, some elderly, and people with severely compromised
immune systems. But these symptoms are not just caused by microbes in drinking water. If you
experience any of these symptoms and they persist, you should seek medical advice.

What is being done ?

Due to reoccurring water main piping breaks along a section of the distribution system in Water District
No. 2, the Town has undertaken the emergency replacement of water main piping and apparatuses
generally along a portion of NYS Route 289. Interruptions to your water service may occur for
approximately 6 hours Friday, November 25th in order to make necessary piping interconnections. With
restoration of service scheduled to be completed by 4PM. After the work is completed Friday, watermain
flushing and testing will occur throughout the Hamlet of Belleville, until Sunday, November 27 th. As a
result, water may be cloudy, and it is recommended that laundry should be avoided.
It is likely that you will need to boil water for the next_4_days until the problem is fixed. You will be
informed when tests show that you no longer need to boil your water.
