Mid-Year Report

At mid-year it is an appropriate time to let you, our members, know the condition of our club and whether we are heading in the right direction. First, I am happy to report that we are living within our budget. Revenues for the first 6 months are ahead of budget and expenses are in line with budget. We are striving to end the year with another small surplus. Membership stands at 182. Weve ended the decline in membership and when the economy improves we anticipate growth in membership. We havent had to use our line of credit this year. Our capital improvement loan is $124,776. Utilizing the line of credit this year depends on your usage of the club. All dues have been collected for the 2011, therefore we must depend on income from the restaurant, pool and golf facilities. Please use your club. April and Bruce continue to provide good food and service from the restaurant. If you havent tried the ribs on Tuesdays, youve missed a delicious and economical meal. Theyre featuring ribs every Tuesday and only on Tuesdays. The restaurant is operating at a break even level for the first 6 months. With the last half of the year being stronger for the restaurant, we anticipate it being in the black again this year. For some of you who havent been making your minimum restaurant, dont forget you can order takeout. Just call the club, place your order and theyll have it ready for you to pick it up. As you know, weve had three rounds of storm damage this year. Many of our members stepped up to help clean up the mess. The latest one was just 4 days before the Club Championship. Larry, Henry and a host of volunteers did an amazing job of getting the course ready. Overall the golf course has been in great shape. If the weather cooperates we hope to avoid the burnout we experienced last year. Jeff did a great job with the club championship and congratulations to Dominic Whiston and Doris Nichols, our 2011 men and womens club champions. Speaking of golf, this year Jeff has a new video golf training system to help us improve our game. Call Jeff to schedule a session. Its amazing! In conclusion, your board is pleased with the progress weve made in the last year and a half. While we arent flush with cash, our finances are stable and were living within our budget. Were working for continued improvement to provide you with a great club. Perry Mac Fisher, President
