Upgrading/Replacing APs

When the new AP discovers the controller, the swap table entry is automatically removed.
Youll need to have an ftp server running (with appropriate image files) before starting this section.
This section is optional; it is included as a reminder that youll need to get new software versions from Meru Support. Enter the following command to make sure youre in the correct part of the directory structure:
name# cd /opt/meru/images

Locate the image file to your controller using a command similar to:
name# dir ftp://username@ftpserver/
You will need to enter an appropriate username and password for the ftp server. Usernames can be configured within the 3CDaemon software.

Note: If you see an error message stating that there is not enough free disk space, use the show flash command to see if there are previous images in the flash memory. Delete the previous image using the delete flash: oldversion command. Then try the copy command again.

This exercise will re-install the current version of the system software, but installing a later version is very similar. Verify the new software version with the command:
name# show flash 3.1.3-7

Confirm that you want to overwrite all system images. You will see an upgrade progress display, first for APs then the controller itself. Confirm that you want to overwrite all system images. When the controller reboots, confirm that you are using a new software version.
