2. The rear wheel of a car has a diameter of 600 mm. the rear axle makes 250 rpm.
Calculate the peripheral speed of the rear wheels in m/s.

3. Triangle ABC has <B = 90°. If AC = 10cm and BC = 8 cm, find

a) The perimeter of the triangle
b) The area of the triangle
4. A steel block having a mass of 90 kg rests on a table, the area of contact with the
table being 2000 mm²

b) Find the average pressure on the table in kN per square meter

5. The flywheel diameter of a motor is 360 mm. the inlet valve opens 14°before TDC and
closes 32°after the bottom dead center. How many mm is the marking inlet valve
opens (Eₒ) and inlet valve closes (Eϲ) away from TDC and BDC?
6. Given double belt drive Z₁ = 18, Z₂ = 55, Z₃ 25, Z₄ = 45, n₄ = 800/min.

7. Air is to be compressed in a diesel engine cylinder. The initial pressure and

temperature are 105kw/m²and 15°c respectively. Final pressure is to be 7m N/m². In
order to ignite the final charge injected at the end of compression, the temperature
required is 100 °c. Calculate the ratio of initial volume for this to be possible.
