Accessibility is an essential factor in all sectors of life. Easy accessibility to education is a

vital element that every learner should acquire. However, the population consisting of disabled

persons faces the challenge of accessibility. Physically and emotionally handicapped students

find it hard to access basic needs due to their respective disabilities. As a result, the development

of different policies helps learners and people with disabilities overcome the challenge of

accessibility.

In a case study of N.J. County, Lanzilotti, a blind student, faced several challenges in

college concerning his academic success (Heyboer, 2015). The college could not provide the

necessary materials to aid him in his studies. As a result, it led him to perform poorly in

academic work. In Early 2015, the National Federation for the Blind changed to accommodate

all learners with disabilities, which helped 6,800 students have enhanced accessibility regardless

of their disability (Heyboer, 2015).

In another policy to improve accessibility in the United States of America, deaf advocates

filed a case against M.I.T and Harvard Universities on February 2015 (Lewin, 2015). The claim

against the two universities violates all learners' right to an equitable education because both

institutions failed to provide closed captions in their online classes, giving deaf learners a hard

time understanding the concepts. As a result, the Department of Justice and the ministry of

education developed a law that states that learners with a disability should acquire the learning

aids they need to improve their access to education.

After a disability discrimination complaint filed three previous years against different

universities, educational stakeholders met the ministry of education to provide the standards of

website accessibility. Crystal Nosal, the University Spokesperson, said that the G.W.'s Digital

Committee had been notified and was in the monitoring period (Vassilev, 2021). The committee

established rules that enhanced the accessibility of education to all learners, especially those with

disabilities.
