Responsibilities Conducting the tests ~ Quality Supervisors/ Quality Head, Approval of Test Results - Quality Head Terms and Definitions Ladder ~ Device incorporating steps or rungs on which a person may ascend or descend. Uncertainty of Measurement shal be ensured as below: £1 mm for longitudinal measurements; 5mm for the measurement of the distance between the supports and the overhanging length; 1° for the measurement of angles; + 1 % for static forces and torque. Following test conditions shall be complied with ) The ladder shall be placed horizontally on supports situated 200 mm from each end of the adder. 'b) The supports shall be cylindrical with diameters between 25 mm and 100 mm and one shall be free to rotate the other shall be fixed. ©). The test load shall be slowly applied in the middle of the ladder equally to both stiles over @ width of 100 mm white it has to be taken care that an applying by jerks Is avoided. The tests conducted as per DIN EN 131-2 standard shall be performed on one ladder and inthe order as listed below: Test 1 Strength test of stiles Test 2~ Bending test of stiles Test 3 Lateral deflection test ofthe ladder Test 4— Bottom stile end test Test 5- Vertical load on rungs, steps and platforms Test 6- Torsion test for rungs and steps Test 7- Torsion test on ladder length Ensure that before conducting the lateral deflection test, strength test and bending test must have been ‘conducted on the test sample in that order: Lateral Deflection Test ofthe ladder Test shall be conducted on al one-pice ladders as well as on each ascendable section of mutile-ioce ladders (standing ladders, sectional ladders, combination ladders, extending ladders) and the supporting legs of standing rung or step ladders, As such test piece shall be of the same size as per the design spectictons. The test shall be rested onthe Test Rig onthe supports with one end fixed and the other end fee as shown inthe Fig below: [Beene wae “Approved by Re Date: 24un 2016 Date: 24-1un2016 STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE TEST PROCEDURE FOR LADDERS LATERAL DEFLECTION TEST Doe Nor SAO SOP.05 Revision No:02. | Effective date: 24Jun2016 Paget 863 864 865 866 867 868 869 86.10 87 ars 88 at 882 883 90 oa 92 ad : PP Fig 4: Lateral Deflection Test ‘The ladder shal be placed horizontally (lateral) on supports situated 200 mm from each end ofthe ladder. ‘The supports shall be cylindrical with diameters between 25 mm and 100 mm and one shall be free to rotate the other shall be fixed, Pace the loading bar on center ofthe lower stile covering the width ofthe ste fly. Load shall be applied in the center ofthe ladder equidistant from both the supports wih the plunger connector with a base plate of ‘width 50mm and length 100mm. Ensure that the dial gauge isin contact wih the stile from the bottom equidistant from both the support. Note the inital reading ofthe dial gauge. ‘Apply a preload of 100 N (or 10Kg) load for one minute and then remove the load. Weit for a minut after removing of load and note the reading inthe dial gauge. The position of the adder after removal ofthis load Shall be taken as the datum for measurement ‘Then again apply the test load of 250N (or 25Kg) fora least one minute. \Wait for one minute after application of load and then take the reading (in load condition) in dal gauge. Difference between datum reading and the final reading gives the actual lateral deflection of the ladder. ‘Acceptable Limits: ‘The acceptable maximum limit (fs) for lateral deflection 2s @ function of distance between the supports (1 shall be calculated as below fac 0,005 x (), in mm, Note: inthe formula shall be mentioned in mm Reporting of Test Results: Update the test details n ladder testing log book. Repor the test results in the Ladder Test Report 'mrespective of test results, test report shall have the actual loads applied, time and deflecton observed as. per the test procedure mentioned above.
