How do we know that the material is solid? What are the characteristics of solid
materials?
Goals
To provide activities that help children learn about the qualities of solids.
Learning Objectives
1. Identifies the solid objects found at home and school.
2. Describe the properties of solid objects.
What is Matter?
All things around us are matter. Matter is anything that has mass and occupies space.
Matter has three types: solid, liquid and gas.
Matter is made up of small particles called molecules and each molecule is made up
of atoms.
The status of molecules in solid, liquid and gas are different. This is shown by the
pictures below.
