COURSE DESCRIPTION: This subject makes students aware of the developmental stage that they are in, for them to better understand themselves and the significant
people around them as they make important career decisions as adolescents. Furthermore, this subject addresses key concerns in personal
development and invites students to explore specific themes in their development. It also includes personal reflections, sharing, and lectures
that help reveal and articulate relevant concepts, theories, and tools in different areas of psychology.
PREREQUISITE: None
COURSE OUTCOMES: After successful completion of this course, the student should be able to:
CO1. Conduct self-exploration and simple disclosure, illustrate the connections between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in a person’s holistic
development, list ways to become responsible adolescents prepared for adult life, and clarify and manage the demands of teen years;
CO2. Identify personal ways of coping for healthful living, to improve learning, on how to stay mentally healthy, and to communicate and
manage emotions in a healthy manner;
CO3. Appraise one’s present relationships and make plans for building responsible future relationships, identify the different roles of leaders
and followers in society, and the firm and gentle sides of family care; and
CO4. Analyze and synthesize his/her personal development as an important component of making career plan based on a set of personal career
goals which is a result of self-assessment of various personal and external factors.
