LESSON PLAN IN LIFE SKILLS FOR LEARNERS WITH AUTISM and DOWN SYNDROME

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the pupils will be able to:
a. classify the food if it is a healthy food choice or an unhealthy one;
b. name at least 2 examples of healthy and non-healthy foods;
c. appreciate the importance of eating healthy foods;
d. build a healthy meal plate with at least 3-5 good foods.

B. Lesson Proper
1. Motivation
Teacher Pyar Grocery Store! Turn your dramatic play center into a grocery store. Let your
students go grocery shopping and allow them to make choices in what is purchased.

2. Presentation
Let the students identify the food and put it to the corresponding box. Happy face box if it is a
healthy food choice and sad face box if it is an unhealthy one.

3. Discussion
a. Say: The pictures you sorted are examples of healthy and non-healthy food. Today, we
are going to talk about what exactly these foods are, as well as the different contents such
as vitamins and minerals.

c. Discuss the food nutrients of healthy and non-healthy foods. Let the students give their
own example.

d. Ask: What food are needed to create a healthy meal plate? Why do we need to eat healthy
foods?

2. What is the importance of eating healthy foods?

5. Application
Build your own healthy plate.
Direction: Choose five (5) healthy foods from the provided pictures. Paste it on your plate.

Which foods are healthy?
Direction: Circle the foods that are healthy.

V. Assignment
Healthy or not healthy?
Direction: Cross out the unhealthy foods. Color the healthy foods.
