SECTION 071416 COLD FLUID-APPLIED WATERPROOFING (LIQUID

APPLIED WATERPROOFING)

1.0 GENERAL

1.1 DESCRIPTION

This Cold Fluid-Applied Waterproofing section is for the specification of a liquid

applied waterproof membrane to all toilets, shower rooms, janitor’s rooms, baby-care
rooms, toilet duct spaces, kitchens, air-handling units (AHU’s), and planter boxes,
and is to be read in conjunction with, but not limited to, other relevant specifications;
as shown in Drawings; Bills of Quantities; and Contract Documents in general to
establish the total requirements for the installation of the waterproofing system, which
is to include covering of floor and upturn to wall surfaces with waterproof cement and
sand screed and plaster.

1.2 STANDARDS

Liquid applied waterproofing membrane is to be in full compliance with the

requirements of ASTM D751 on elongation, with ASTM D751 on tensile strength, and
with ASTM C627 on service rating, or equivalent proposed by the Contractor subject
to approval..

1.3 SUBMITTALS

1. Technical Data

The Contractor is to submit product technical data, for review and approval.
Material subsequently delivered to site to be strictly equal to approved data.

2. Test Reports from an accredited laboratory for the criteria listed under the
‘Performance’ article, are to be submitted for verification.

3. Shop Drawing

The Contractor is to submit full shop drawings that show complete extent of
installation and interfacing details of the waterproofing application including all
lapping; upturns; jointing; penetrations; dressing works; and corners etc., for
approval before any on-site construction.

4. As Built Drawings

The Specialist is to submit the As-Built Shop drawings upon the completion of
installation and handing over of the extent of waterproofing, for the
information of maintenance personnel.
