COURSE DESCRIPTION: The course will introduce students to the concept of organizational
Change, the needs for change management and the imperative for the development of requisite
skills in managing organizational change by managers. The meaning, nature and importance of
effective management of organizational change will be explored. Factors and forces compelling
organizations to implement changes, the dimensions, types of change will be discussed as well as
the contemporary methods of managing such changes. Theories and models of organizational
change leadership and communication will be disserted. The concept of resistance to change and
methods for managing such will be heighted.

LEARNING OUTCOMES: The primary objective is to expose students to information which


will enable them develop requisite change management skills required of modern managers.

By the end of this course students should:

1. Understand and define the meaning of organizational change management, the nature,
dimensions and importance of change management skills for today’s managers.
2. Identify and discuss the external and internal factors propelling organizational business as well
as the typologies of organizational change

3. To understand and describe the various approaches in implementing organizational change.

4. Explain the different leadership/ models approaches used in managing organizational change.

5 Understand the concept of resistance to change, causative factors as well as strategies for
managing resistance to change.

6. To identify and describe strategies for motivating change.
