Answer this question in Argumentative Essay format.

1. What is an ethical dilemma? When does a dilemma take place? Cite a

situation that will explain several courses of action to be considered in solving a
problem. Don't forget to include the references where you have taken the ideas to
back up your argument. (20 pints)

ANSWER:

1. In a decision-making situation, an ethical dilemma occurs when any of the available

options forces the agent to violate or compromise on their ethical norms. A option or the
requirement to make a decision must be presented to the agent. The agent must be able
to choose from a variety of options. Problem solving and decision making belong
together. You cannot solve a problem without making a decision. There are two main
types of decision makers. Some people use a systematic, rational approach. Others are
more intuitive. They go with their emotions or a gut feeling about the right approach.
They may have highly creative ways to address the problem, but cannot explain why they
have chosen this approach.
