B Comparative Matrix
Instruction:
Read the two historical sources (Primary and Secondary Source) about the Katipunan and Tejeros
Convention. Analyze the given documents and answer the comparative matrix that will be
provided to you.

Historical A convention was held in Tejeros on March 22, 1897, to resolve the
event: conflict between the two councils and choose what form of
administration should be established. The crowd turned rowdy
during the convention's first session, forcing a break. When the
conference resumed, Bonifacio was given the responsibility of
presiding over the election of the new government's officers. Before
this, though, Bonifacio established the rule that the assembly
should follow the results of the election regardless of what they
could be. When Bonifacio was chosen as Secretary of the Interior,
Daniel Tirona objected and said that a lawyer should hold the office.
Infuriated, Bonifacio sought an apology from Tirona. Because of
humiliation and anger, Bonifaciodeclared that all matters convened
in the Tejeros Conventionwere null and void. Together with his
supporters, he left theestate house.

argument: this matter relates to the Tejeros
convention election that
Supremo Andres Bonifacio
refused to recognize due to a
conflict. Only the Magdiwang
leaders were present when they
revalidated the election

following day. The Magdalo
leaders met on the same
evening at the Paris residence
in Tariza. Magdalos disregarded
the Supremo Andres Bonifacio's
decisions and performed the
oath-taking ceremony without
his knowledge.
Bias: Since the book is the Memoirs
of a General Santiago Alvares,
who is a member of Magdiwang,
there are a few factors that will
influence his bias with regard to
the information that he will
provide because he is a
member of Magdiwang. In
general, all of the information or
data he wrote about this topic is
based only on his view about
the things that happen within the
Tejeros convention and other
occasions.
Advantages: The advantage of the primary
source is that you can assure
Daniel Tirona disregarded
Supremo Andres Bonifacio's
admonition that everyone should
respect the outcome of any
election. Supremo Andres
Bonifacio declared the assembly
to be ineligible, nullifying all of
the council's decisions and
approvals. Without Supremo
Andres Bonfacio present,
Aguinaldo took their oath.

Andal Agoncillo's perspective on
the tejeros convention would
undoubtedly be based on other
sources, therefore there may be
certain instances in which the
knowledge or data he has is not
reliable and legitimate. Some
details, including dates, do not
line up with the information
provided by General Santiago
Alvares.
The advantage of a secondary
source is that the author may
 that the information it has is
liable and valid because it is
from the person who witnessed
or experienced the said event.
Also Readers can understand
every viewpoint or aspect of
what's going on as if they were
there when it happened.
Disadvantages: The primary source has the
drawback of lacking from the
viewpoint of other views, similar
to how General Alvares clarified
his thoughts about the Tejeros
conventions where his focus is
all on the things that just happen
in the event and possibly has a
bias on how describes be all the
happening since his part of
Magdiwang.

part of the facts are not matched
to the original source.
