Unit Costing and Job Costing Reflection Paper

Mostajo, John Carl V.

BSBA OM I301

Introduction
Group’s one report is about unit costing and job costing, wherein they discuss, of course, the
definitions of unit costing and job costing. Features of unit costing and job costing They also discussed
some computations on how to solve those two costs.

Body
As a student, I learned about the features of unit costing. They give an example of how to
compute unit costing wherein you have to add the total variable cost to the total fixed cost, then divide
it by the total number of sales. Aside from that, they also explain that single output is the other term for
unit costing. The next one is the job costing, wherein they discuss that the job costing is a cost allocated
to make custom products. They also discussed on how to compute job costing, which is first you have to
solve the predetermined overhead rate, which you have to divide the estimated overhead by the
estimated activity. The next step is you have to compute direct labor, which is You have to multiply the
rate by the labor cost, the next step is Applied Overhead, wherein you have to multiply the
predetermined overhead rate by the labor activity, and the last step is the Total Job Cost, for which you
just have to add the Direct Materials, Direct Labor, and Applied Overhead, and that’s it, you have just
computed the job costing. They also give a 20-point quiz.

Conclusion
To conclude, I understand handout 5, which will help me easily answer the examination on Nov
11. The computation is easy to understand because the reporter did something great in reporting the
topic and has explained it very well.

Recommendations
I recommend that they reduce the number of words on the PowerPoint; they must only include
the important part of the topic or the key point. And they should have backup storage to store their
report. They should also save it on the flash drive.
