REVELATION

Syllabus

I. GENERAL INFORMATION.

A. This course consists of 32 video lessons.

B. Each class is approximately 30 minutes long.

C. Instructor: Chuck Horner.

II. DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE.

A. To make an in-depth study of the book of Revelation.

B. To study each section in Revelation demonstrating how it promotes a better


understanding of the spiritual battles behind the persecution of Christians.

C. To confirm the sovereignty of God (He rules the nations).

D. To impress Christians with the need to overcome.

E. To impress faithful Christians that the final victory is theirs.

III. INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS.

A. Required:

1. Bible.

2. 32 video lessons.

3. Course Notes.

B. Optional: Any conservative commentary on Revelation.

IV. REQUIREMENTS.

A. Read the entire book of Revelation twice.

B. View each video lesson in its entirety.

C. Read the Course Notes in their entirety.

D. Submit a term paper (explained below).

E. Take three exams (explained below).

F. Have a grade average of 70 or more for each exam and a combined grade
average of 70 or more for the course.

V. EXAMS.

A. There are three exams (one after chapter 3, one after chapter 11 and a final
exam after chapter 22).

B. The study guides may be downloaded at any time. You may use the study
guides while you are viewing the videos.

C. When you take an exam you must do so completely from memory with no
help from your Bible, study guides, Course Notes, etc.

D. You do not need a proctor when taking the exams, God is your witness.

VI. TERM PAPER.

A. Write a paper on one (1) of the following two topics:

1. The seven churches of Asia (Revelation 2-3).

a. Discuss their spiritual condition, including strengths and


weaknesses.

b. Discuss the course of action each needed to adopt.

c. Draw a lesson for today from each of the seven letters to the
seven churches.

2. The symbolism of Revelation.

a. Discuss the different forms of symbolism.

b. Discuss how these symbols are to be interpreted (understood).

c. Discuss attempts to identify individual parts of the symbols.

d. Discuss how the understanding of the use of numbers gives


encouragement to the recipients of the Revelation.

B. The paper should be two to three pages long (12 point font, double spaced).
Do not exceed four pages. The paper should be approximately 600 to 900
words.

C. The paper should be submitted after you take your final exam.

VII. GRADING.

A. Term paper and exams will be graded separately.

B. Final grade is based on an average of all assigned work.

C. You may request a grade be explained or reconsidered, but in any case


WVBS Online Bible School will have the final say.

VIII. CREDIT.

A. Credit will be issued, including a certificate, only after all work has been
successfully completed.
