We use the Past Simple to talk about actions which

happened at some point in the past. It occurs with: ago,


yesterday, last week / month / year.
Affirmative:
Ann and her parents went to France two years ago.
Regular verbs form the Past Simple
by adding –ed to the infinitive. Yesterday he called his girlfriend.
talk – talked Last week Mark rang his family.
Negative:
Verbs ending in a consonant + -y and She didn’t go to Lisbon.
add -ied.
Interrogative:
cry – cried
Did Ann go to France?
Irregular verbs have different forms.
