CLASSWORK IN MSIT204
PETER BENEDICT J. NAPOLES

1. Give 3 switch features from Access Layer, Distribution Layer and Core Layer. Explain the
importance of each features.

1. VLAN
The Computers, servers and other network devices are logically connected
regardless of their physical location. This feature is vital, specially in the Access Layer,
where volume of network traffic occurs due to the numbers of computers or devices
that is connected to the network. By having VLAN as a feature, network engineers tend
to organize the traffic in each port in the switch by giving a certain department a
dedicated port.

2. LINK AGGREGATION
Link aggregation feature enables a network engineer to combine multiple
physical lanes into a single higher bandwidth logical lanes. it helps to relieve
bandwidth bottlenecks that occurs in switch uplinks. This is important specially on the
distribution layer, wherein all the collected data from each of the station is arranged to
a much more organized lane.

3. LAYER 3 SUPPORT
Enables a switch to perform forwarding based upon IP addresses rather than
MAC address. allows for faster packet switching than routers. this functionality is ideal
for LAN environment where users expect extremely fast network performance times.

2. GIVE 6 DEVICES THAT CAN BE FOUND IN ACCESS LAYER.

 Hub
 Switch
 Router
 Modem
 Gateway
 Access Point
