1. How can public speaking be used to help other people? Explain in 3 sentences.
- Public speaking can be used to help other people in a way that public speakers motivate and persuade their
listeners to make a change, and/or to take an action. With public speaking skills too, you can inform people
about something that matters, or to share knowledge about something. Another one is that public speaking
helps listeners be captivated, entertained, and interested over the message of the speech delivered. (Thus,
public speaking allows us to influence decisions, motivate change, and form connections.)

2. Enumerate the three types of speeches and briefly describe each in 3 sentences.
- The three types of speeches are Informative Speech, Persuasive Speech, and Entertainment Speech.
The informative speech aim to educate and provide learning to an audience on a particular topic. Informative
speeches uses facts, data, and statistics to help audiences grasp the concept or topic. This type of speech
doesn’t intend to get the audience to believe a certain viewpoint or opinion, but they inform the audience
with all the relevant details surrounding a particular topic as the role of the speaker.

The objective of the Persuasive Speech is to influence the listeners in such a way that they will change their
minds/views for the better or gain their support. The credibility of the speaker is essential in this speech.
Persuasive speech can also use facts to back their opinions and make it more believable.

The objective of the Entertainment Speech is to provide stimulating distraction, capture audience attention,
and amuse them while delivering this speech. Entertainment speech often include humor or funny stories.
Some examples where this speech is often found is at birthday gatherings, graduation or weddings.

3. How important mental preparedness in impromptu speaking?

- Mental preparedness is very important in impromptu speaking because it is an aspect that will directly
affect on one’s delivery performance. If one is not mentally prepared, that could lead to mental block or
stuttering. Since it is a speech that you have to make without any time for preparation, then mental
preparedness is a must to deliver a speech in those times of surprises. The only way to attain mental
preparedness in constant practice.

Topic: “If you will run for mayor, why should people vote for you?”

Good day everyone! My name is Dellaney Joy Ciano, and I am here today as a candidate running for mayor.
Right now, we have an opportunity to transform our community into what it is supposed to be. If I am to be
elected as mayor, I am dedicated to seize this opportunity to address the challenges imposed by our
community, that is to improve our services, to denormalize corruption, to lessen crimes and issues of drugs,
and to help improve our transportation. I can manage people to achieve a common goal and pursue these
change. Together, we can work on the issues we currently face, and ascend from the steps towards
experiencing the change.
