Indigenous Science and Technology

Indigenous Science - a product of indigenous knowledge perfected by man through life

experiences. It may connote traditional and non-scientific knowledge because it includes
superstitious beliefs and practices which maybe products of human imagination.

Indigenous knowledge as something that has to do with origin, having originated in and
being produced, growing, living, or occurring naturally in a particular region or environment. A
broad system of knowledge that is unique to a particular culture and is passed down from
generations to generations of members of the society.

Indigenous Technology – product or process resulting from the continuous pursuit for
indigenous science. This resulted from the Filipino’s creativity, originality and inventiveness.
