Description
ACTIVITY

Description This activity was designed to keep the students, teachers, and other
school personnel, aware of the different things to do in times of
earthquake to mitigate the casualties when this unexpected event
happens.

Objectives a. To increase the participation of the public in promoting both


individual and family earthquake preparedness towards
community resilience, with the integration of public health
measures and standards
b. To evaluate the readiness and awareness of learners and
DepEd Personnel for earthquakes
c. To evaluate the coordination and communication mechanism
during evacuation procedure and response.

Preliminaries -SDRRM Coordinator together with the Team, planned and


assigned teachers who will help facilitate the conduct of the
activity.
-Assigned teachers informed the advisers to disseminate the
procedures during the conduct of the activity.

Methodology  SJNHS participated in the conduct of the 3rd Quarter National


Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) last September 8, 2022.
 As planned, the assigned teacher will play the Earthquake
Alarm through the Paging System, however, a system failure
occurred. So, they decided to use the Buzzer as earthquake
alarm.
 All students and teaching/non-teaching staff performed the
“Duck, Cover and Hold” until everyone is safe.
 Everyone moved to the safe area and class advisers accounted
the students.
 The School Principal observed the activity and call for an
immediate post activity meeting with the SDRRM Team citing
her observations and planned an alternative response for the
earthquake and other related emergency responses.
 The School Principal requested the SDRRM Team to prepare
and conduct an orientation to teachers and students for
different emergency responses to be held tentatively next
Friday, September 16, 2022.

Management of The activity was spearheaded by the School Principal, Mrs. Flordeliza
the Activity R. Verunque and facilitated by the SDRRM Team headed by Mrs.
Noemi V. Maraya, the SDRRM Coordinator.

Resource Persons The SDRRM Team of SJNHS.

Logistical Safety and health protocols were followed all throughout the event.
