The pump keeps the pool water moving in a continual cycle. The pump
has an impeller that forces water through the skimmers (found at the top of
a pool) and the sumps (found at the bottom of a pool) to the filter, which is
powered by an electric motor. After that, the filtered water is routed back
through the return nozzles. The pumps feature a nine-star energy efficiency
rating, as well as fast mode and overdrive capabilities, making it a very
powerful and efficient pool filter. The water first flows through a plastic
basket-like pre-filter to keep the pump from becoming blocked. This is to
catch leaves and other debris that could clog the system or pump. The water

through the filtration system, where the majority of small debris particles
are eliminated. The water is filtered using a thin sand or glass particle filter
bed. These particles capture even the tiniest dirt particles while allowing
water to pass through. Through the output pipe, this sparkling clean filtered
water returns to the pool. However, the filter bed will acquire dirt over time
and will need to be replaced every one or two years.
