Creating a Plan to Stay Mentally Healthy During

Adolescence
Introduction:
Our emotional, psychological, and social well-being are all parts of our mental
health. It influences our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Every stage of life, from
childhood, adolescent and through adulthood places great emphasis on mental wellness.
Nonetheless, with this lesson, you will learn about the concept of mental health and why it is
crucial for us to take care of our mental health.

1. How can we elaborate the concept of mental health?
2. What are the factors that affect our mental health?
3. What are the aspects of mental health?
4. How do we stay mentally healthy during adolescent?
5. Why is it important to be mentally healthy?
Body:

Mental health is a term that affects how we feel, think or act. On the other hand, good
mental health is a sense of confidence, self-esteem and well-being.

Well-being, often related to happiness, refers to a


positive state of mind leading to contentment or
satisfaction in life and Psychological well-being is
also a well-being on the basis of mental health.

The factors that affect our mental health include;


biological factors, life experiences, family
history, extreme stress, and frequent use of
alcohol and drugs.

Emotional aspect, psychological aspect, and


social aspect - are aspects of mental health which
talks about how we feelings, how we reflect on
ourselves and how communicate with others.

In order for us to stay mentally healthy especially


during adolescent, we should know about
vulnerability. Vulnerability is the uncertainty and
threat of exposure to harm, difficulties, or
challenges that causes stress and anxiety. However,
we can turn our vulnerabilities to strength by identifying, acknowledging, admitting and
accepting our vulnerabilities within ourselves.

Conclusion/Summary:
Mental health is a complex concept thus, it is important for us to take care and look
after our mental health. When mental health being neglected, our life would be miserable and
full of complications that may lead to serious problems in life. Being aware of the different
aspect and factors that affect, influence, form and strengthen our mental health gives us the
ability and power to plan ahead and ensure a mentally healthy adolescence in preparation for
adulthood.
