It talks about the story behind

the name of Sagasa Island.

Once upon a time, there was a couple named Balaurio
Surigao and Trinidad Hoylar from Alegria one of the
barangays of Bien Unido. The said couples were the
first to lived in the said barangay.Both were
fishermen, everyday they go to the sea to catch fish
for a living and for food.
 One day, they go to the nearby island hoping
that they can catch more fishes. They were
surprised that it has many fishes therefore they
did not regret about their decision. They keep
in going back and forth.
 The said nearby island has a lot of tree
called "sagasa". They cut it down and dry it
under the heat of the sun in order to be
used as lighting every time they went
fishing at night. They also used it as a fence
and as a foundation.
Few days after, there neighbor wonder why
does the couple has a lot of fish and always
bring a chunks of unknown tree when they
came home, he asked "where does all of
those stuffs came from? The couple replied
" we got it from the island where there are a
lot of sagasa tree".
After several months, many people went to the

island to catch fish and get a bundle of sagasa

tree. The people who lived in the neighbor

island also went there to get sagasa tree to be

used as fence and firewood.

That is the reason why our island was named
"Sagasa". Up until now it has been the norm
and name of the island. Sagasa was also
known as a beautiful islands who lies at the
center among all islands of Bien Unido.
