COMPANY BACKGROUND

Karylle Jeane Seng, one of the owners, saw the need for a new food product
that would be highly patronized in this modern, fast-paced world. She got the help of
her friends to conceptualize and create pizza balls. The group agreed to work as
partners to start the new business to take advantage of the benefits selling the product
would provide.
The name of the company, “Sean G’s Balls” started out as a joke between the
owners. It comes from the name of one of the owners, Sean Garcia, which was
shortened to “Sean G”. However, the G not only represents one of the owner’s names
but also the other four owners, all of which are girls. The logo, on the other hand, was
designed by Samantha Chloe Morales. It shows the product in an animated style, that
is, a pizza in ball form.
Sean G’s Balls will be a fast food service-manufacturing business. The
business will be a general partnership in Angeles City between Trizia Jane Chico,
Sean Garcia, Samantha Chloe Morales, Karylle Jeane Seng, and Abiah Kaylene Yu.
All partners will be co-owners who will share their expertise in different areas of the
business such as food preparation, bookkeeping, and marketing. All partners will split
in providing the beginning capital of 1.25 million pesos. They will also split the income
equally amongst themselves. Few employees will be hired in the first year, but more
will gradually be hired as the business expands.
The owners plan to sell the product in stalls in different strategic locations in
Angeles City to maximize their reach and in turn increase profits. The first of these
stalls will be located near Bart Mall, which is also near Holy Angel University, Nepo
Mall, and other well-known establishments. This strategic location will attract students,
busy people such as businesspeople and other workers, and people of all ages, since
it will be very accessible to these kinds of people. In addition, the owners plan to take
advantage of the power of social media in order to attract customers. Due to the
novelty of the product, many people may post and recommend the product on their
social media accounts which would also be of big help in marketing the product.
Moreover, the owners plan to expand by increasing the number of stalls, which
are to be in other strategic locations, such as malls, schools, and the like. Some of
these include SM Clark, Nepo Mall, Nepo Quadrangle, Marquee Mall, and Angeles
University Foundation. Franchising is also another viable option towards expansion,
especially since it is becoming very popular in the Philippines. In addition, the owners
plan to have some full-fledged stores built and increase their menu items. By 2024,
the company aims to expand at least within the Luzon area.

MARKET SITUATION

Sean G’s Balls meticulously analyzed both the geographic and demographic
situation of Angeles City in order to have a good idea of the marketing situation that
will definitely help in effectively and efficiently attaining its goals which includes
increase of sales, capturing a large portion of the market and expanding of the
business itself.

GEOGRAPHIC

Sean G’s Balls first location is near Bart Mall in Angeles City. This is a
strategic location as many establishments such as Holy Angel University and
Nepo Mall are located near here. Other stalls are also planned to be put up in
Angeles City. Angeles City was chosen as the location of Sean G’s Balls stalls
as it is a first class highly urbanized city, which houses numerous establishments,
subdivisions, barangays and universities that are full of potential buyers, where
the marketing efforts of Sean G’s Balls are directed to. These stalls are also to
be built to cater the heightened needs of the population. Due to its proximity to
an international airport in Clark Freeport, Angeles City is visited by many people
all year round. This can help increase sales due to population growth as a result
of the many people coming into the city.

DEMOGRAPHIC

Given the fact that 'Sean G's Balls' will be situated at a densely populated
location in the city proper, the owners are looking forward to serving a wider
range of customers in order to fulfill the mission of the company and increase its
sales. This will be achieved by taking into consideration some factors such as
income, age, and desires. Our main customers include students, workers, nearby
residents, and passers-by. 45% of the target market will be students as the
location of the stall will be near a university. In addition, many students like to
hang out in Bart Mall. The age range of the students will be 10-24 years old, as
7
HOLY ANGEL UNIVERSITY
these students are the ones who have the ability and allowances to buy the pizza
balls. Workers aged 25-59 years old comprise 35% of the target market as there
are many businesses and establishments near the stall. Moreover, workers have
sufficient income to buy the pizza balls. Time is also not a problem as pizza balls
are quickly prepared and served to customers. Nearby residents are 10% of the
target market and include those customers living in nearby subdivisions and
residential areas. Finally, passers-by are the rest of the customers who may
occasionally walk by the stalls.

TARGET MARKET

Identifying the right target market is an essential step for any company in the
development of a marketing strategy. A target market pertains to a particular group of
potential customers to whom a company wants to sell its product and direct its marketing
strategies. In accordance to this, the owners focused on categorizing their target market
by age, income, location and lifestyle. This will help in setting specific market factors to
reach and connect with customers through sales and marketing efforts. Furthermore, in
in choosing Sean G's Balls' target market, indispensable factors for the product must be
considered such as price, appetizing appearance, promotion efforts and distribution.

• STUDENTS (Ages 10 to 24 years old)

One of Sean G's Balls main target market are the students, mainly those from
Holy Angel University, Holy Family Academy, and some students from Angeles
Elementary School and Sto. Rosario Elementary School. Other students from
different schools around Angeles City and nearby areas can be taken into
consideration also, as the location of these schools are still within the vicinity
of Sean G's Balls' stalls, making them accessible and convenient for students
to go and purchase Sean G's Balls products. Students tend to try something
new that suits their tastes. Pizza is one comfort food that many people love, but
Sean G's Balls puts a twist and makes pizza balls with different ingredients and
dips to choose from. Sean G's Balls' pizza balls basic ingredients such as
tomato sauce and cheese can also be healthy as they give the students calcium
that helps maintain the bones stronger and lycopene which is also known to be
a powerful antioxidant that helps to fight cancer. Since these individuals only
have limited budget and are dependent on the allowances given to them, Sean
G's Balls offers an affordable, healthy and delicious food product with a price
that is not heavy for their pockets.

• WORKERS (Ages 25 to 59 years old)

Considering that Angeles City is home to an emerging technology and market

industry, workers near the vicinity of the stalls can avail Sean G's Balls'
products as workers have their own source of income. These workers can
come from call centers such as EnTec, schools such as those aforementioned
universities, and malls such as Nepo or Jenra Mall. They can come to the stalls
anytime, especially on their breaktime. This is especially helpful since Sean G’s
Balls are a quick snacking option. These people also want to treat themselves
after a long tiring day, and pizza balls can be their comfort food which can
relieve their stress. In addition, Sean G's Balls' pizza balls have other benefits,
which include protecting your heart and preventing disease.
9
HOLY ANGEL UNIVERSITY

in nearby residential areas and subdivisions have easy access to the stall. The
main target residents are those living in the Barangays of Sto. Rosario, San
Jose, and Pulungbulu and those living in subdivisions such as Nepo
Subdivision and Villa Angela. Sean G's Balls can also be their snacks or
"merienda" as they turn their all-time favorite pizza into a crave-fulfilling pizza
ball. Instead of ordering a pizza which is time-consuming, nearby residential

“instagrammable”. Sean G's Balls also hopes to serve the best pizza balls in

CUSTOMER EXPECTATIONS

NEEDS

Needs are things or material items essential for survival, such as food,
clothing, housing, and water. So, when this is provided by a business, they obtain
satisfaction from the customers. One way to give what the customers need is
innovating products through using ingredients that cater to the nutritional needs
of the customers. In addition, the customer must also feel a sense of belonging,
which is part of the experience in food service. It is always necessary to offer the
people something new amidst mediocrity to keep and acquire customers. The
following are the needs discussed in detail:

1. Food

This is one of the most basic needs essential for survival. Since many
businesses offer pizza and other food items, it is imperative that the business
will continually innovate the product. This can be done by finding healthier
ingredients, expanding the menu, and conducting research on flavor
preferences of customers. This way, competitors will not be able to easily
surpass the products the business is offering.

2. Nutrients

Not only must food be delicious, it should also be filled with nutrients. This
can be achieved by finding ingredients that are much more nutrient-rich and
healthier. Many customers nowadays are much more health-conscious and
want food that is good for the body. Sean G’s Balls contain tomato, which is
rich in lycopene and good for the heart, and cheese, which is rich in calcium
and essential for good bone health.

3. Sense of Belonging

This is also a part of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. The customers must feel
that they are being served by people who actually care for them. Employees
must be given customer service training to improve their skills in dealing with
customers. Complaints must be addressed immediately. These must be done
in order to retain customers so that they will continuously patronize the
product. In addition, the food should be able to help in creating a sense of
belonging between groups of people, like friends and family.
11
HOLY ANGEL UNIVERSITY

WANTS

There is always a fierce competition in the world of business. That is why

in the food industry, it is imperative to serve tasty dishes to keep and acquire
more customers, but it does not just stop with that. People tend to compare
different brands for the quality or price so a business must be the best in its field
to be ahead of everyone. The best thing to do is to provide something that they
cannot resist. That is why the owners came up with the idea of serving ball-
shaped pizza bites with a variety of flavors that can surely be enjoyed by
everyone. It is the perfect combination of good taste and appetizing appearance.
Sean G’s Balls are the perfect tummy filler that people can get at an affordable
price. The following are the wants of customers discussed in detail:

1. Variety of Flavors

Customers want to be able to choose what flavors they want. This is similar
to how other pizza shops offer different pizza flavors like pepperoni, cheese,
Hawaiian, and “meat lovers”. By offering different pizza flavors, Sean G’s
Balls will be able to keep up with actual pizza restaurants. In addition,
customers will be enticed to try the new flavors and not get bored with the old
ones. They will return as they always want to try something new.

2. Quick Service

Many customers are busy and want to have a quick snacking option. Slow
service is also one of the main complaints of many customers. Unlike pizza
restaurants, customers will not have to wait to get delicious food. Since the
pizza balls are much smaller and will be fried, the cooking time will be
reduced. They will get the same flavor at a fraction of the time spent at a
restaurant.

3. Affordable Prices

Not only do customers want delicious food, they want food that is affordable.
Pizza balls are the perfect less expensive alternative to a pizza, which may
cost a bit more expensive. The ingredients used in a pizza ball are much more
cost-friendly which is beneficial to both the customer and the business.
Customers will have the benefit of enjoying pizza at the fraction of the cost it
takes to buy an actual one.
12
HOLY ANGEL UNIVERSITY

EXPECTATIONS

Lastly, it is important not only to meet but to exceed customers’

expectations to be in the lead of the game. Food stalls are designed to give off
warm and cozy feeling to put customers at ease or relaxation whenever they visit.
People are persistent to always see something new so it is a must to continuously
improve and create new ideas. Sean G’s Balls will consistently strive hard for
innovation and betterment of its products. The business shall offer its customers
original food concepts beyond their imaginations that will surely fit their tastes.

1. Attractive and Clean Stalls

People expect stalls to be clean and look beautiful. This is especially true in
the age of social media where people post pictures of places they like to hang
out at and foods they like to eat. In addition, the appearance of the stall helps
in attracting customers. Stalls should also be clean because this is of utmost
importance in food service. Customers will lose their appetite if they see an
unclean stall and be discouraged to eat the food from that stall.

2. Innovation

Customers want new flavors to choose from. They will lose interest if they
continually eat the same food over and over again. Sean G’s Balls aims to
add more flavors as the business continues to expand. In addition, the taste
of the current flavors and ingredients used will be adjusted accordingly.
Healthier ingredients will also be utilized to entice health-conscious people to
try the product.

3. Promos

Some customers want to receive freebies for buying certain products. Sean
G’s Balls will offer promos to the first customers on specific dates. This
includes 20% off for a certain number of customers and shirt giveaways.
Rewards will also be given to loyal customers in order to retain them.

and opportunities of the business were identified. These were carefully analyzed in
order to ensure that they will properly be addressed by the business. Strengths must
be properly maintained so that the business will continue to enjoy the advantages and
the edge it has over the competitors. Weaknesses, on the other hand, must be
eliminated for these may cause the business to fail in the long run. Moreover, the

SWOT ANALYSIS

STRENGTHS

Strengths are the internal characteristics which give the company an edge over
its competitors. There are many traits which give Sean G’s Balls an advantage over
its competitors. These strengths must be maintained to ensure that competitors will
not gain an edge and to maximize the benefits that come with the strengths the
business has. The following are the strengths of Sean G’s Balls:

1. UNIQUENESS AND NOVELTY OF THE PRODUCT

No other businesses offer a similar product to Sean G’s Balls. Other businesses
only offer the ordinary pizza, but Sean G’s Balls takes this idea further by turning it
into pizza balls. Since whole pizzas take much longer to prepare and cook, this gives
Sean G’s Balls an edge in terms of the time a customer must wait for their order.
Customers also tend to want to try new products. This is especially true to the younger
generation. Since the stall is located near a school, this can be taken advantage by
the business, due to the students who want to try new food products. On the other
hand, similar products offered by other businesses are potato balls, but many
businesses already offer this product and these are much more expensive compared
to pizza balls. Potato balls are also much more different to pizza balls and experience
other competition from other potato products such as fries. This makes pizza balls a
new and unique product that will give customers a new experience and a new way to
enjoy pizza.

2. AFFORDABILITY OF THE PRODUCT

At first, one might perceive that pizza balls are expensive due to the ingredients
that are used in an actual pizza and the price of an actual pizza. However, compared
to other food products, pizza balls have lower priced ingredients, making the product
much more affordable to customers. The dough is only made from flour, water, oil,
salt, and baking powder. Moreover, the fillings are enough so that the customers will
enjoy them, but are not too much which would increase the costs of making the ball
and make it more expensive. Proper planning is done to ensure that every ball is tasty,
enjoyable, and affordable to the customer. The price for three pizza balls is only twenty
pesos, which makes the product very affordable for all customers, especially students.

3. ATTRACTIVE AND PURPOSEFUL PACKAGING

The packaging for Sean G’s Balls are paper boxes. These were chosen for
many reasons. First, these are easier to customize, design, and produce. The
business can get another manufacturer to create them but make their own design
which could make the product much more appealing and appetizing. This packaging
could help entice customers to buy the product, since the packaging is the first thing
15
HOLY ANGEL UNIVERSITY
that they see. Customers who would bring the product to other places could help in
marketing the product because of its attractive packaging. Paper boxes are also easy
to carry around. This would allow the customer to bring the pizza balls anywhere they
want without hassle. Finally, paper boxes are much more eco-friendly and safer
compared to plastic cups. Plastic does not easily disintegrate and causes pollution. It
also is unsafe compared to paper because the heat of the freshly cooked pizza balls
could cause leaching of the plastic and make the product unsafe to eat.

4. STRATEGIC LOCATION OF THE STALL

The stall is located near Bart Mall in Angeles City. This is a strategic location
because it is in the area where the target market is located. There are many schools
such as Holy Angel University and Holy Family Academy, where there are large
populations of students. Since students always want to try something new, the location
of the stall is strategic because it will very be accessible to them. Workplaces are also
located near the stall. Some of these workplaces can be malls such as Nepo Mall,
Jenra Mall, and Newpoint, call centers such as EnTec, and the aforementioned
schools. Some workers want something quick and readily available to them and Sean
G’s Balls are the perfect snacking option because the cook time for the balls is very
quick. Furthermore, many people pass by the stall and may not be from Angeles City.
Many people come from San Fernando and Mabalacat to work or study in Angeles,
which is very helpful to increase foot traffic, as they may pass by the area where the
stall is located. Additionally, many residential areas are also located near the stall
which will also help increase the number of customers.

5. ATTRACTIVE STALL LAYOUT

The owners of Sean G’s Balls took much time and effort to ensure that the stall
layout is attractive, appealing, and pleasing to the customer’s eyes. This will help
increase foot traffic by attracting customers to the stall. The stall will make sure to
showcase the attractive pizza balls. It will also utilize a retro theme to fit in with how
other pizza diners design their stores. The retro theme will also make the stall a place
which customers may find “instagrammable” and in turn, customers may share
pictures of it on their social media accounts. This will help in marketing the business
to other people on social media. Orange and yellow were used in the design, logo,
and other promotional materials of the business as these colors are known in color
psychology to make people hungry.

6. QUICK FOOD COOKING TIME FOR SHORTER WAIT TIMES FOR CUSTOMERS

Since the balls will already be pre-made and only require quick deep frying, the
customers will have to wait less time to have their pizza balls made. Actual pizza must
be made to order and take a significant amount of time to bake. This is especially
helpful to workers or customers who are busy and cannot wait for a long time to have
food prepared for them. Many customers are also very impatient when it comes to
16
HOLY ANGEL UNIVERSITY
waiting time for food they have ordered. The quicker food preparation time will entice
them to continually patronize the product.

7. CUSTOMER-ORIENTED SERVICE

At Sean G’s Balls, the customer will feel that they are welcome. Customers
must feel like they are at home when they are at one of the stalls. This will entice them
to continually go back to the stall and buy more products. Regular trainings are given
to employees on how to deal with customers to ensure that they are ready for any
situation. Even if the business is small, building relationships with customers is the
key to success. By building relationships with customers, a loyal customer base is
developed. These customers will drive the sales of the business.

WEAKNESSES

Weaknesses are areas where the business may lack in. Sean G’s Balls must
focus on improving the business to ensure that these weaknesses are addressed.
They must not be exploited by competitors for this will hurt the business. It is important
that these weaknesses are eliminated and turned into strengths. The following are the
weaknesses of Sean G’s Balls:

1. LACK OF EXPERIENCE OF THE OWNERS AND INITIAL LACK OF

MANPOWER

The owners only have little background in doing business as they have not
opened their own businesses yet. The inexperience of the owners could hurt the
business, especially in decision-making for the business. These mistakes can cause
the business to fail, if the owners are not careful. Therefore, the owners should gain
experience and could consult those with experience to help in managing the business
and making sound business and economic decisions. Furthermore, the business may
lack some manpower initially. This is due to the fact that the balls must also be
premade and the preparation of the balls is a bit labor intensive. The owners can only
hire few people initially since there may not be enough funds to pay the employees.
In order to fix this, the owners must increase sales through intensive marketing efforts,
which in turn, would allow the business to hire more employees due to the increased
capital.

2. PERCEIVED UNHEALTHINESS OF THE PRODUCT

Pizza is considered by many to be a “junk food”. Likewise, fried foods are also
perceived to be very unhealthy due to the oil being used to cook the food. These two
perceptions of people may hurt the business because many customers nowadays are
health-conscious. To address this weakness, ingredients must be monitored and
research must be done in order to find healthier alternatives. The ingredients being
used must also be of highest quality, but should not be the cause of price increase.
17
HOLY ANGEL UNIVERSITY
Further research into the pizza fillings will be done to ensure that the product is
healthier. The oil to be used in cooking the balls is palm oil, which is much healthier
compared to other oils, if used in a balanced diet. Other cooking oils may be taken
into consideration, if they are much healthier and affordable. If ingredients are
changed and made healthier, this weakness can be turned into an opportunity to
market the product to the more health-conscious people.

3. DIFFICULTY TO SECURE CAPITAL

Since the business is newly established, the owners may find it difficult to
secure capital for the business. This money will be needed to jumpstart the business.
Without sufficient capital, the operations of the business as a whole will be affected. It
may be difficult to keep up with the growing demand if there is not enough money to
purchase ingredients to produce pizza balls. If the demand is not met, sales will be
affected. Furthermore, it will be much more difficult to market the product if there are
insufficient funds. It is for this reason that the business should establish itself so that
it would be able to increase sales and secure capital which will be used to further
expand business operations and allow for much more intensive marketing promotions.

4. LACK OF FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT AND PERISHABILITY OF THE

PRODUCT

Due to the fact that the product must be pre-made and that the owners are only
starting the business; it will be much more difficult to produce large amounts of pizza
balls. The business lacks the technology to produce large quantities of pizza balls.
This, again, will hurt the business if they are not able to keep up with growing demand.
As the business expands, new technologies must be acquired and used in order to
increase production. This will allow the business to keep up with the growing demand
as the business expands. On the other hand, the product is perishable. This can lead
to a wastage of unused products. In addition, since the product must be preserved
and cooled before cooking, this may increase costs, and in turn, the price. In order to
fix this issue, aggressive selling efforts must be done in order to ensure that all
products are sold and no products are wasted. Furthermore, research can be done
onto how food can be preserved in a much more cost-efficient way.

5. BUSINESS IS NEWLY ESTABLISHED AND THE BRAND IS UNESTABLISHED

This is a problem all new businesses face. The newly established business has
no established brand. Customers may forget the business as they have no image of
it in their head. In order to ensure that the business maintains a good image, customer
service satisfaction must be ensured. It is not enough that the product is appealing.
The business, although small, should build profitable relationships with its customers.
It should also avoid bad publicity by ensuring that customers do not leave the stall
unsatisfied. Employees should be trained on how to treat customers. On the other
hand, the stall should remain clean and meet health regulation standards to avoid
complaints on food safety. An unclean stall can lead to a bad reputation of the
18
HOLY ANGEL UNIVERSITY
business. To establish the brand, intensive marketing efforts will be done. To reiterate,
the business will utilize social media to reach a wider audience and promote the
product. Promotions will regularly be done to attract more customers. Loyal customers
will also be rewarded to retain them.

OPPORTUNITIES

Opportunities are certain factors which could help the business grow. These
are favorable to business and present ways which could allow the business to improve
on certain aspects. These opportunities must be seized by Sean G’s Balls to be able
to reap the benefits that the opportunities may offer to the business. The following are
the opportunities of Sean G’s Balls:

1. EXPANSION INTO OTHER AREAS SUCH AS MALLS AND OTHER SCHOOL

AREAS

There are many other areas in Angeles City that the business can expand into.
By expanding into these areas, the business will be able to further reach its target
market. There are many malls where Sean G’s Balls can expand its operations. These
include Nepo Mall, Marquee Mall, Robinsons Angeles, and SM Clark. The four malls
are located in different areas of the city, which would be strategic in reaching different
customers such as workers and those living in residential areas. On the other hand,
there are two schools that could serve as strategic locations for the business
operations. The first school is Angeles University Foundation. There are many
businesses establishments located in this area which would help not only reach
students, but workers as well. The second school is Republic Central Colleges in
Plaridel Street. This school is also surrounded by a public market. There are many
passers-by in this location, which would help increase foot traffic. These passers-by
are potential customers for the business also.

2. USE OF TECHNOLOGY, SUCH AS MACHINES TO QUICKLY MANUFACTURE

THE PRODUCT

To keep up with the increasing demand of the product as the business grows,
there must be an increase in the production of the pizza balls. Machines can be used
to make the process of making the balls more automated. This will lead to an increase
of production of the pizza balls. By keeping up with the demand, the business will be
able to maximize sales. This may help in paying the different expenses of the business
and expanding business operations. Furthermore, the increase in sales can help
towards the marketing efforts of the business such as promotion and advertising.

3. INCREASED SOCIAL MEDIA PRESENCE AND MORE EXTENSIVE

PROMOTIONS FOR INCREASED SALES
19
HOLY ANGEL UNIVERSITY
As mentioned before, social media is a powerful tool for marketing the product.
However, it is often forgotten by many businesses. By increasing the social media
presence of a business, the business can enjoy many benefits. For one, marketing on
social media is free, the business does not have to pay for advertising on social media.
It also reaches a very wide audience as almost everyone already has a social media
account nowadays. Social media can be used to show off appealing photos of the
product which would entice customers to buy it. On the other hand, extensive
promotions are very useful for attaining and retaining customers. Discounts can be
given to attract customers and can be given to loyal customers to retain them. All of
these efforts will help increase the sales of the business and will help the product be
known by everyone.

4. PRICE DECREASE OF INGREDIENTS

This would be very advantageous to the business, as it would allow for them to
make the product more affordable for the customers. On the other hand, it would allow
the business to direct their expenses towards other operating or marketing efforts. The
price of flour, salt, tomato sauce, tomato paste, cheese, and different meats may
decrease depending on the situation, and this opportunity should be seized by the
business when it happens.

5. ADDITIONAL FLAVORS

Customers constantly expect something new from the business. If the business
will continually offer the same flavors, the customers may lose interest in the product.
They will get bored of eating the same flavors over and over again. Therefore, the
business will increase the number of flavors they offer in the future. Initially, the flavors
to be offered are pepperoni, Hawaiian, and chicken. These are very common pizza
flavors offered by different pizzerias. To keep up with actual pizzerias, Sean G’s Balls
will regularly add flavors to the menu. Some flavors which could be added to the menu
include, seafood, Mexican, vegetarian, and bacon. These are flavors that other pizza
shops offer, and could be offered by Sean G’s Balls. Simply put, the flavors that Sean
G’s Balls offers should be similar to those offered by actual pizza shops to give
customers a reason to continually patronize the product. The numerous possible pizza
flavors are an opportunity which Sean G’s balls should take advantage of. These
possibilities are endless as people are very creative when it comes to making up pizza
toppings. Given that people are creative when it comes to pizza, the same may be
applicable to pizza balls.

6. GROWING POPULATION OF ANGELES CITY

The growing population of Angeles City could be an opportunity for more

customers for the business. Since it is one of three cities in Pampanga, it has a large
population compared to other municipalities. According to the Philippine Statistics
Authority, the population of Angeles City has grown by 59,000 in ten years. The
population of Angeles City could further grow due to many factors. One important
20
HOLY ANGEL UNIVERSITY
factor is its proximity to Clark. There is an international airport in Clark where many
people come into the country. Moreover, the government is making plans for Clark to
become much more developed. More businesses are to be established in Clark. If this
were to happen, the population of surrounding cities, including Angeles City would
increase exponentially. Since the business is located in Angeles City, which is near
Clark, this would allow for a much easier expansion into the area. Also, since more
businesses and people are coming into Clark, this could open doors for more investors
to discover the product and possibly invest their money in the business.

THREATS

Threats are factors which could negatively impact the success and operations
of the entire business. They could cause the failure of the business if not addressed
or prepared for. Like all businesses, Sean G’s Balls has made plans to prepare for
these possible situations which could occur at any time. The following are the threats
of Sean G’s Balls:

1. CHANGING CUSTOMER PREFERENCES

Customers can easily change their mind or view on a certain product. This is a
threat that all businesses must prepare for. In the case of Sean G’s Balls, some
customers are becoming increasingly health-conscious. Since pizza balls must be
fried, customers may avoid eating this if they are trying to eat healthy. Two solutions
to this problem may be finding healthier oil to cook the product in or offering a baked
option to health-conscious customers. Furthermore, to cope with the changing
customer preferences, the business must change the product accordingly. If
customers want a new flavor of pizza ball, this must be addressed by introducing that
new flavor. Customer feedback is important to know the changing customer
preferences. Customer demands must be heard to be able to cater to what customers
want in their pizza balls. Ingredient amounts must be adjusted accordingly to tailor
customer flavor preferences. If the business does not adjust to these changing
preferences, customers may grow tired of the product, which would hurt the business
as well.

2. BAD MEDIA COVERAGE

Rumors and bad news spread easily, and the business could suffer this
problem as well. In order to prevent this from happening, the business must maintain
a good image to its customers. Customer satisfaction must be a priority. If customers
are not served properly, they may leave bad reviews or talk badly of the business on
social media. Moreover, cleanliness is another concern of many customers. If they
see that the stall or food is unclean, they will lose their appetite. They may also report
this to the authorities. If these situations were to happen, the news can spread on
social media like wildfire, which would severely hurt the business. Many customers
like to complain about bad service or unclean restaurants on social media. Likewise,
21
HOLY ANGEL UNIVERSITY
news media likes to cover these kinds of news on businesses which is much more
terrible for the reputation of the business.

3. INCREASING NUMBER OF COMPETITORS

Although the product is unique, it can possibly still suffer competition from much
more established businesses. Actual pizza shop chains such as Pizza Hut and
Shakey’s have been in the food industry for many years. Other competitors which offer
similar quick snacking options such as Potato Corner and Master Siomai have also
established themselves. These businesses already have customers which are loyal
to them. As the business continues to grow, more competitors will rise as well. New
businesses will arise and more customers will be competed for. Moreover, other
businesses may try to copy the idea of pizza balls. This is similar to the situation of
the fries and drink combos. One business came up with the idea, but many businesses
started copying the idea. This situation led to many competitors for the customers of
fries and drink combos. As such, Sean G’s Balls must establish its brand to the
customers. The customers must be aware of the uniqueness and novelty of the
product. They must know that the product is more affordable and quicker to prepare
for their convenience. By creating this image in the customer’s minds, they will
remember Sean G’s Balls for offering a quick, affordable, and tasty snacking option.

4. INFLATION, LEADING TO HIGHER PRICES

Due to inflation, the prices of raw materials and other operating expenses will
increase. This will cause the prices of the products to increase as well. As the business
strives to offer affordable products, this is a threat which must be prepared for. One
solution could be adjusting prices to accommodate for the increased costs of the
business. Another solution could be applying the marketing strategy of cost
leadership. This would help decrease expenses in manufacturing the product which
would allow the business to maintain the affordable price to customers.

5. SUPPLIERS MAY GIVE SUBSTANDARD INGREDIENTS

This is a threat that could severely affect the business, as the business offers
food, which the customers will taste and consume. If suppliers were to deliver
substandard ingredients, the overall quality of the product could be affected. This
could lead not only to taste concerns regarding the product, but could also possess
health risks to customers. Moreover, switching suppliers could cause sudden changes
in prices. There are many ways, however, to avoid this from happening. Consistent
monitoring of ingredients must be done to ensure that the quality of the ingredients is
excellent and usable in creating pizza balls. Building relationships with suppliers could
help in not only ensuring ingredient quality, but even in attaining discounts to reduce
costs.

COMPETITIVE SITUATION

Competition in the fast food service industry is progressively becoming

more difficult in each passing day. All the direct and indirect competitors in the
fast food industry are continuously innovating their products and services which
leads to the attraction of more customers as well as maximization of their revenue
generation. Thus, Sean G’s Balls is anticipating a fierce direct and indirect
competition from several of the recognized and prominent fast food brands which
include the following:

DIRECT COMPETITORS

Pizza Hut is one of the top competitors in the

pizza market. It is an American fast food restaurant
chain and international franchise that focuses on
offering and delivering pizzas. Current statistics
show that Pizza Hut has increased its total revenues
and operating income due to the massive growth of
its client base. It also has strong financial and
marketing position because it has been in the
industry for almost six decades now. Hence, it has
successfully established loyal target market and
already gained the customer’s trust. As of today, it
operates over 11,000 stores worldwide, in which
145 are in the Philippines while the rest are situated
in the foreign markets.

Another competitor would be Greenwich

which has been operating for almost 50 years now.
It offers palatable pizzas which pique the interest of
many consumers as well. It has penetrated the
market effectively and has widened its reach among
young adults. It has appealed mainly to the mass
market and is constantly renovating its image. In
addition, it offers lower-priced products in order to
generate higher profit. Moreover, it has enhanced
its operating system by building automated factories
which has resulted to the increase of production.
23
HOLY ANGEL UNIVERSITY
The last direct competitor would be the
Shakey’s Pizza chain, which has been around the
Philippines since the ‘70s and started in California
in the United States in 1954. It is well-known as the
top family-oriented restaurant which means giving
the same comfort food and atmosphere that always
brings back good memories. It concentrates more
on providing unforgettable experience which is why
it is chosen and fancied by the market, especially
those who value fast, easy, and casual but
memorable dining.

INDIRECT COMPETITORS
Statistics in the quick service industry show
that Jollibee is the leading quick service restaurant
in the Philippines. It dominates a significant part of
the market both locally and has even penetrated the
international market. Jollibee offers food that caters
to the Filipino palate, which has led to its long-term
success. Moreover, it is much more affordable and
family-oriented which is the reason why many
Filipinos in the Philippines and abroad patronize it.

Potato Corner, known for the “World’s Best

Flavored Fries” also had its beginnings in the
Philippines 25 years ago. Today, it can be found in
many almost every corner of the world – in malls,
schools, hospitals, bus stations, amusement parks,
and even tourist destinations in multiple countries. It
has also garnered multiple awards such as the
Franchise Excellence Hall of Fame Award by the
Philippine Franchise Association and Department of
Trade and Industry in 2003, the Best Franchise of
the Year in three consecutive years, and most
recently, the Global Franchise Award recognized by
the same institution. According to its website, it is
“an iconic brand for kids and kids-at-heart and a
distinguished business venture for entrepreneurs”.
Like Sean G’s Balls, it also offers a quick snacking
option for customers.
Finally, Master Siomai is another fast-
growing food cart business in the Philippines. It now
has over 900 outlets in the Philippines and has
ensured its success and longevity through constant
exposure in TV Sponsorships, Billboards and Trade

Events participations. According to its website, its primary motivation is to be
approachable. They are driven to satisfy both the taste buds and pockets of the
modern Pinoy with only the best products made from the best ingredients using
innovated technology and a skilled workforce. It too offers a quick snacking
option for customers.

MARKETING STRATEGY

PRODUCT
The product of Sean G’s Balls will be pizza balls in a variety of flavors.
Customers will have the benefit of eating cheesy, satisfying and scrumptious
pizza balls. The dough will be made of yeast, flour, sugar and salt while the fillings
will vary on the flavor of the Pizza ball. All will contain cheese which provides
nutrients such as calcium, protein, phosphorus, zinc, vitamin A and vitamin B12
that are important for a healthy body. Tomato sauce, on the other hand, provides
lycopene, which is important for heart health. The following are the flavors that
Sean G’s Balls will offer:

1. PEPPERONI. Pepperoni gives a tangy and spicy flavor and

a chewy texture to the pizza ball. It is one of the most classic
flavors of pizza and therefore one of the most popular. Hence, it is
a must to include in the menu. Pepperoni is also a good source of
healthy proteins, calcium, and iron.

2. HAWAIIAN. The Hawaiian pizza ball will contain ham and

pineapple. The two flavors will perfectly balance each other and
are a perfect combination for many pizza enthusiasts. It may
sound weird to some, but it is indeed the perfect mix of sweet and
savory flavors. Moreover, ham is a good source of protein and
pineapple contains antioxidants and disease-fighting vitamin C

3. CHICKEN. These pizza balls will contain chicken breast

flavored with spices to enhance its flavor. This is a much healthier
option as chicken breast contains less fat, but still provides the
protein our body needs. It is even known to suppress and control
our body's homocysteine amino acid levels which, if too high, can
lead to cardiovascular disease.
26
HOLY ANGEL UNIVERSITY
DRINKS. As Sean G’s Balls mainly offers fried food, a great
way to take advantage of this is offering drinks. After eating
fried pizza balls, drinks are a perfect way to quench your thirst
after the meal. The drinks will complement the pizza balls, and
allow the business to maximize profits. Since the two products
will complement each other, it is likely that if a customer buys
one of the products, they will buy the other one as well. Drinks
offered include pineapple juice, orange juice, and iced tea.
These will come in two sizes, 8 ounces and 16 ounces at PHP
16.00 and PHP 25.00 respectively.
27

PACKAGING

On the other hand, the packaging of the product will be made of paper.
This is to help in reducing plastic waste in the environment, which causes
pollution and harm for many animals. This is to promote eco-friendliness to the
customers. Paper is a material that is much easier to process and recycle
compared to plastic. Sean G’s Balls will adopt the shape of the packaging that
Chinese restaurants use for take-out orders. Orange will be used as the main
color as according to color psychology, it is known to stimulate the appetite of
people. The packaging will contain important information such as the name of
the brand, flavors offered, nutrition facts, ingredients, information about the
product and contact details. By making the packaging attractive and easy to carry
around, customers may be enticed to take-out the product. Other customers
could see the packaging and be intrigued to try the product for themselves.

PRICE

Sean G’s Balls offers delicious pizza balls for a reasonable price. Drinks
are also sold to complement the pizza balls. Compared to other restaurants that
sell pizza, Sean G’s pizza balls are much more affordable, but still have good
quality. Its price is good for those who want to save money and eat tasty pizza at
the same time. There is a huge difference between the prices of pizza balls and
actual pizza. This is due to the fact that the ingredients are much more affordable
and the ingredients are used in different amounts compared to pizza, which
allowed Sean G’s Balls to offer the product at a much lower price. However, this
does not mean that quality will be sacrificed. Product quality and customer
satisfaction are also priorities of Sean G’s Balls and are taken into consideration
along with the affordability of the product. The customers were also taken into
consideration in pricing the products. Since a majority of the customers are
students, the price was set to ensure that it would be affordable to them. To allow
the customer to quickly choose, Sean G’s Balls has simplified the menu. This will

The prices of the pizza balls of the business are much more reasonable
compared to its direct competitors that sell similar products. Customers can already
purchase and enjoy three pieces of pizza balls that are surely tasty and full of flavor
for just PHP 25, unlike other businesses that have higher prices. Various drinks are
also offered in different sizes. Thus, Sean G’s Balls does not only focus on gaining
more profit but it also cares for the consumer’s ability to buy through making the
products worth it for the customer, while not losing revenue for operating expenses.
Moreover, the prices are simplified to one price point to help simplify the customer’s
buying decision. This will help them make quicker decisions which would reduce wait
time for other customers and help employees work more efficiently.

PRICING STRATEGIES

Objective Pricing Strategy

To gain a market share of at least 5% by Penetration Pricing
increasing sales in the first six months of
operations.
To attain monthly sales of PHP 300,000 Promotional Pricing
by the beginning of the second year of
operations.
To survive in the food industry by Price Lining
simplifying customer’s buying decision
and offering low-priced food. Competitive/Going Rate Pricing

To ensure the success of the business, pricing objectives are created to be

able to set the right prices of the product in a way that the business will generate profit
which can lead to the firm’s stronger survival. Price is a fundamental aspect for the
marketers because it has a heavy influence in most business settings and it is the only
part of the marketing mix that affects the revenue or income of the business.
Therefore, it is really important to give customers the best deal of prices for
them to be encouraged to purchase the product. It will help drive sales and entice
more customers to try the product or have repeat purchases. The pricing strategies
mentioned above will be utilized by the owners to develop and continuously adjust the
pricing of the depending on the buying power of the potential and existing customers
despite of the different factors that may come along the way in the business’
operations such as the lack of certainty.
These pricing objectives and strategies would also be the guide of the owners
in setting the selling price of the product without causing loss and damage to the
company that can risk its growth and market share. This will result to a better
competitive state. By setting these objectives, sales can be increased, market share
can be improved, and the survival of the business can be ensured.
44
HOLY ANGEL UNIVERSITY

OBJECTIVE 1: To gain a market share of at least 5% by increasing sales in the first six
months of operations.

Penetration Pricing

Given that Sean G’s Balls is a new business, it is important that it sets a place in
the market. Getting and introducing a new product to the market is indeed difficult.
However, if it is able to generate greater market share and is successfully positioned,
then increasing profit would be easy to acquire and can be the reason for continuous
growth of the business. Below is the regular computation of one order of Sean G’s Balls
(all flavors have a similar computation):

ONE ORDER – 3 PIZZA BALLS (ALL FLAVORS)

Direct Materials PHP 8.55
Direct Labor PHP 3.00
Direct Overhead PHP 1.20
Unit Variable Cost PHP 12.75
Fixed Costs PHP 1.95
Unit Cost PHP 14.70
Mark-up (70%) PHP 10.30
SELLING PRICE PHP 25.00

In the first six months of operations, Sean G’s Balls will sell pizza balls at a reduced
price of PHP 23.00, rather than its regular selling price of PHP 25.00. In other words,
Sean G’s Balls will offer a markdown rate of 8% or PHP 2.00. This is to entice more
customers to buy the product of the business instead of the competitors’ offerings which
can lead to an increase of sales volume. Penetration Pricing is used in this objective,
wherein the product enters the market at a lower price. This is to attract customers to the
business’ product more than the competitors, to allow the business to generate greater
market share, and to create a market for the new product. Below is the computation for
the penetration strategy, along with the estimated quantity to be sold during the first six
months of operations:
COMPUTATION:
Sean G’s Balls will markdown pizza balls at 8%.
Markdown = Selling Price x Markdown Rate
= PHP 25.00 x 8%
Markdown = PHP 2.00

New Selling Price = Selling Price – Markdown

= PHP 25.00 – PHP 2.00
New Selling Price = PHP 23.00

Estimated Quantity Computation Total Estimated

Sold/ No. of Orders (Price at PHP 23) Sales
First Month 5,000 5,000 × 23 PHP 115,000
Second Month 5,100 5,100 × 23 PHP 117,300
Third Month 5,200 5,200 × 23 PHP 119,600
Fourth Month 5,300 5,300 × 23 PHP 121,900
Fifth Month 5,400 5,400 × 23 PHP 124,200
Sixth Month 5,500 5,500 × 23 PHP 126,500
TOTAL PHP 724,500

To further put these numbers into perspective, the sixth month estimated sales
of Sean G’s Balls was compared to the estimated monthly sales of other major pizza
shops in Angeles City:

Competitor Estimated Monthly Sales Percent Market Share

Greenwich PHP 760,000 34.13%
Pizza Hut PHP 525,000 23.58%
Shakey’s PHP 415,000 18.64%
Yellow Cab PHP 400,000 17.97%
Sean G's Balls PHP 126,500 5.68%
PHP 2,226,500 100%

COMPUTATION:
Industry Total Sales= PHP 760,000 + 525,000 + 415,000 + 400,000 + 126,500
Industry Total Sales= PHP 2,226,500

Market Share= (Company Monthly Sales / Industry Total Sales) x 100

Greenwich= (760,000 / 2,226,000) x 100= 34.13%

Pizza Hut= (525,000 / 2,226,000) x 100= 23.58%
Shakey’s= (415,000 / 2,226,000) x 100= 18.64%
Yellow Cab= (400,000 / 2,226,000) x 100= 17.97%
Sean G’s Balls= (126,500 / 2,226,000) x 100= 5.68%

Therefore, to be able to outdo and compete direct competitors that have a

massive share in the market and have made their business successful for the past
months, penetration pricing would be the best strategy. The new product would be
introduced at a much lower price compared to other businesses. This would prevent
the competitors from getting more share in the market due to the low mark-up of the
46
HOLY ANGEL UNIVERSITY
product and would also help the owners to position their business ahead and establish
an advantage in the future market.
47
HOLY ANGEL UNIVERSITY

OBJECTIVE 2: To attain monthly sales of PHP 200,000 by the beginning of the

second year of operations.

Promotional Pricing

To further increase sales during the second year of operations, Sean G’s Balls
will use promotional pricing to entice customers to buy in bulk. Promotional pricing is
one of, if not the most compelling sales strategies there is. In this scheme, products
are temporarily offered at a lower price which in return, attracts consumer interest and
generates more repeat purchases. The bottom line of this tactic is the creation of
higher levels of consumer loyalty. If customers find great deals during the promotion,
they will likely come back to look for more.
Through the use of bundle pricing, Sean G’s Balls will introduce to the market sets
of the products priced lower than it usually costs when bought separately. Pursuing
this tack allows an increase in the profit through discounts given to the customers.
Sean G’s Balls will offer a Party Bundle, wherein 20 pizza ball orders or 60 balls
and 20 orders of 16 oz juice will be sold for PHP 850, rather than its actual price of
PHP 1,000. This will give customers a 15% discount from their order. At least 3 of
these bundles should be sold daily for birthday parties or any other special occasions
and serve as treats for the guests. Also, it can be consumed by students going on field
trips or workers having team buildings and served as snacks as they do their activities.
Serving this as a finger food is a safe bet for the customers since almost everybody
loves pizza. No loss will be incurred if a party bundle is sold. Presented below is the
computation that proves that Sean G’s Balls will not incur a loss:

COMPUTATION:

Profit (if sold at Original Price)

Profit = Profit of Pizza Balls + Profit of Drinks
= (PHP 10.30 x 20) + (PHP 11.11 x 20)
= PHP 206 + PHP 222.20
Profit = PHP 428.20

Profit (if sold at discounted Party Bundle price)

New Profit = Original Profit – Discount
= PHP 428.20 – PHP 150.00
New Profit = PHP 278.20

Therefore, Sean G’s Balls will not incur a loss, as there will still be a profit
of PHP 278.20 after the price of the party bundle is discounted.

First, the estimated daily sales for the second year of operations will be given
(Assuming that 80 orders per flavor are sold daily, or a total of 240 orders):
48
HOLY ANGEL UNIVERSITY
Item Price Target/Estimated Sales
No. of Sold Orders
Daily
Hawaiian PHP 25.00 80 PHP 2,000
Pepperoni PHP 25.00 80 PHP 2,000
Chicken PHP 25.00 80 PHP 2,000
TOTAL DAILY SALES PHP 6,000
MULTIPLIED BY: DAYS OF THE MONTH 30
TOTAL ESTIMATED MONTHLY SALES PHP 180,000

To ensure sales targets are met, Sean G’s Balls will offer the Party Bundle, which
would entice customers to buy in bulk. Below is the computation for the estimated
sales with the Party Bundle (With a target of 3 party bundles sold daily):

Item Price Target/Estimated Sales

No. of Sold
Orders Daily
Hawaiian PHP 25.00 80 PHP 2,000
Pepperoni PHP 25.00 80 PHP 2,000
Chicken PHP 25.00 80 PHP 2,000
Party Bundle PHP 850.00 3 PHP 2,550
TOTAL DAILY SALES PHP 8,550
MULTIPLIED BY: DAYS OF THE MONTH 30
TOTAL ESTIMATED MONTHLY SALES PHP 256,500

Therefore, if Sean G’s Balls were to offer the Party Bundle and meet the sales
target, this objective would be met. If 80 orders of each flavor and 3 Party Bundles are
sold, the sales target of PHP 200,000 would not only be met, but would be exceeded.
This increase in sales would be of big help to the business leading to more intensive
marketing activities, improvement of operations, product improvement, and
expansion.

OBJECTIVE 3: To survive in the food industry by simplifying customer’s buying

decision and offering low-priced food.

Price Lining Strategy

The first strategy Sean G’s Balls will use to capture more customers is the Price
Lining Strategy. Price lining is a marketing pricing strategy wherein various products
and services are grouped based on their distinctive features, attributes, degrees, or
quality and are set at different price points. The higher the price, the higher the
perceived quality to the consumer. Sometimes, one or two price points are used for
all products sold. This strategy is profitable, but it relies on various factors that can
affect the finance flow of the company, so it is not the always best option for every
product or service that will be offered.
Sean G’s Balls will offer pizza balls at different price points. However, the menu
will be simplified to as few price points as possible. In this way, consumers will not get
confused on what to buy based on their budget because the price is fixed. It also offers
to customers flexibility of choice by allowing them to choose the flavor they want.
Bundles will also be offered to entice customers to buy in bulk and to buy more of the
product. Party bundles and drink combos will be offered at discounted rates to
increase repeat purchases. This will simplify the customer’s decision process, allowing
for shorter wait times and more efficient work flow for the employees, due to the
simplified menu. On the other hand, while consumers generally like to have choices,
there is a danger that if the higher price point is not justified, it may ruin the image of
product or service altogether. So, it is very important to set prices according to what
consumers are willing to pay and to ensure that the company will not incur a loss and
gain maximum profit. Below is the simplified menu of Sean G’s Balls:

MENU ITEM PRICE

Pizza Balls (1 ORDER – 3 PIECES)
Hawaiian PHP 25.00
Pepperoni PHP 25.00
Chicken PHP 25.00
Drinks
Pineapple Juice (16 oz) PHP 25.00
Orange Juice (16 oz) PHP 25.00
Iced Tea (16 oz) PHP 25.00
Pineapple Juice (8 oz) PHP 16.00
Orange Juice (8 oz) PHP 16.00
Iced Tea (8 oz) PHP 16.00
Combos
SG1 (3 Pizza Balls + 8 oz Drink) PHP 38.00
50
HOLY ANGEL UNIVERSITY
SG2 (3 Pizza Balls + 16 oz Drink) PHP 45.00
SG3 (6 Pizza Balls + 2 16 oz Drinks) PHP 85.00
Bundles (Bulk Orders)
Party Bundle (20 orders/60 Pizza Balls + 20 16 oz Drinks) PHP 850.00
Classroom Bundle (40 orders/120 Pizza Balls + 40 16 oz Drinks) PHP 1,650.00

The menu is divided into four categories with few options, to ensure that price
lining strategy is applied. These include the Pizza Balls, Drinks (both a la carte),
Combos, and Bundles. Few price points are used to simplify the customer’s decision
process. Prices for the combos and bundles are offered at lower prices compared to
if they were ordered separately or a la carte. Sean G’s Balls offers these food items
at lower prices compared to their competitors to attract more customers and entice
repeat purchases. This is one of the ways Sean G’s Balls will achieve its objective of
surviving in the industry by offering low priced food and simplifying the customer’s
decision process. The former of the two is further explained in the next strategy.

Competitive Pricing/Going rate Pricing

The second strategy Sean G’s Balls will use to survive in the industry is
Competitive Pricing or Going rate Pricing. Competitive pricing consists of setting the
price at the same level compared to the already established pricing of competitors.
This pricing method is often used within well-established and highly competitive
markets; therefore, it was chosen by Sean G's Balls to further increase their sales and
to stay ahead to the competition.
However, Sean G’s Balls will offer pizza balls at a much lower price compared
to its direct and indirect competitors for the reason that it may avoid the race to the
sky. This means that other companies will set their price higher and higher, but Sean
G's Balls will offer lower prices. This is to achieve maximum profitability and attract
more potential customers. The ability of Sean G’s Balls to offer much lower prices
compared to pizza shops is due to the fact that the product requires very affordable
and different quantity of ingredients to produce.
To show how much lower Sean G’s Balls will offer their food items, below are
the prices of the direct competitors of Sean G’s Balls:
51
HOLY ANGEL UNIVERSITY

Greenwich

Pizza Hut
52
HOLY ANGEL UNIVERSITY

Shakey’s

Therefore, it is shown above that Greenwich and Shakey's have huge gap
compared to the price of Sean G’s Balls. Greenwich offers their pizza from range of
PHP 99 to PHP 519 depending on the size of their pizza, while Shakey's prices are
ranging from PHP 251 to PHP 646. This is much higher priced compared to the budget
friendly price of Sean G's Balls of only PHP 25 for one order of pizza balls. By offering
a significantly lower price, customers may be enticed to try pizza balls as an alternative
to pizza, due to the extremely lower price.
Furthermore, the prices of the indirect competitors, which are much closer to
Sean G’s Balls’ prices were also taken into consideration.
53
HOLY ANGEL UNIVERSITY

Jollibee

Potato Corner
54
HOLY ANGEL UNIVERSITY

Master Siomai

Therefore, it can be deduced that the indirect competitors have much more
comparable prices compared to the direct competitors. Jollibee is a widely known fast
food restaurant but looking to its menu, their products' price range is from PHP 99 to
PHP 475, with its lowest rice meal is highly comparable to the standard price of Sean
G's balls. Considering the budget of most people, it is not heavy for their pockets.
Meanwhile, Potato Corner offers their french fries at PHP 29 to PHP 209, which
depend on the quantity. It is affordable but Sean G's Balls’ prices are much lower.
Lastly, Master Siomai offers their product at the price of PHP 40 for their siomai. It is
also comparable as it charged PHP 15 more than Sean G's Balls which offer their
pizza balls for only PHP 25. However, since these are indirect competitors and do not
offer the same products, it will be much easier for Sean G’s Balls to outdo these
competitors. Sean G’s Balls’ prices are also still lower compared to these competitors.
55
HOLY ANGEL UNIVERSITY

PLACE

The first Sean G’s Balls stall will be located near Bart Mall at Sto. Rosario
Street, Angeles City, in front of Holy Angel University. This will be a strategic
location because the target market are mainly students, passers-by, and busy
people. Different schools and establishments are just around the stall which is an
advantage in attracting the market and selling more products which can lead to
higher profits.

In the future, Sean G’s Balls plans to expand into malls within the Luzon
Area. All locations will use the similar design stall as seen below.
56
HOLY ANGEL UNIVERSITY

PROMOTION

Social media will be widely used in promoting the product of the business.
Facebook page, Twitter and Instagram accounts will be available for the inquiries
of the customers, promos, as well as updates which will be posted on the said
platforms. Flyers will also be used to encourage the customers to buy the product
by showing off the good-tasting pizza balls. The fact that the product has a much
more affordable price will also be promoted. In addition, promos will be given to
a certain amount of first customers on certain days and loyal customers as well.
The promotion methods will be discussed in detail below:

1. SOCIAL MEDIA PAGES. Social media has become a powerful tool in the
modern age. Many customers utilize this tool. Facebook, Instagram, and
Twitter will be used to post updates on branch openings, promotions, and
new product offerings. Facebook could be used to get feedback from
customers through the Messenger feature. Instagram, on the other hand, is
the perfect social media platform to show mouthwatering pictures of the
products that would entice customers to buy it.
57
HOLY ANGEL UNIVERSITY
2. FLYERS AND POSTERS. To reach those customers who do not have social
media accounts, flyers are the perfect tool to showcase the product. Different
information can be placed on the flyers to entice customers to purchase the
product. Promotions can also be given to customers who show the flyer when
they purchase the product. Posters, on the other hand, could be placed in
different strategic locations to capture the attention of potential customers.
Appealing photos of the products will also be used to entice the customers to
try the product. Posters will be able to capture the attention of many people,
especially passers-by.

3. T-SHIRT GIVEAWAYS. The owners also plan to give t-shirts on special

occasions. A promotion could also be offered to customers who collect the
cups and present them at the stall. This not only promotes loyal customers to
continually patronize the product, but also promotes cleanliness of the
environment as customers will not be tempted to throw the cups anywhere.
Moreover, customers that wear the t-shirts could help in further promoting the
brand.

SMART ANALYSIS
Sean G’s Balls
OBJECTIVE #2

To achieve monthly sales of Php 100,000 in the first six months of operations.

Specific Sean G’s Balls, being a newly established business, aims to

achieve an attainable monthly sales target of Php 100,000. An
estimated daily sales target of about Php 3,333 must be achieved
to ensure the success of this goal, which is attainable. This is to
ensure that all costs and expenses will be covered. Moreover, the
business must be able to generate funds for expansion, marketing,
and attaining equipment that would make manufacturing the pizza
balls much quicker.

Measurable To ensure that the business is achieving the sales target, monthly
sales reports must be monitored. Moreover, other financial
statements must be used to ensure that money is being reasonably
used for the different expenses, liabilities, and acquiring of different
assets.

Attainable Sean G’s Balls will utilize different marketing strategies to ensure
that sales targets are met. Intensive marketing efforts will be done
to attract more customers to the stall. Due to the business being
newly established, the company will give many discounts and “buy
one, take one” promos to attract customers during the first six
months of operation. This will help create a loyal customer base.
Advertising through social media and flyers will also be used to
showcase the product and push customers to taste it for
themselves. Promotions, such as discounts will be given to
customers to compel customers to buy more of the product. Loyal
customers will be rewarded to ensure that they will continue to
patronize the products. All of these efforts will be done to drive
customers to purchase more of the product, which would increase
sales.

Realistic Taking into account several factors, this objective is very realistic.
Due to the fact that the business is newly established and initially
small, the sales target is very achievable. The stall is strategically
located at where the target market could easily access it. Also, the
novelty and uniqueness of the product could attract customers to
try the product and in turn, drive sales. A strong marketing strategy
is also utilized which would further increase sales.
61
HOLY ANGEL UNIVERSITY

OBJECTIVE #6

To introduce three new flavors and make the product healthier after three years.

Specific Sean G’s balls shall bring out new food concepts and market a total
of three new flavors through innovation of the products. A baked
healthier variant is to be introduced to target health-conscious
individuals as well. These efforts are to aid in attaining the goal of
at least a 30% sales increase and to stay relevant and be ahead of
the competition in the food industry.

Measurable Survey feedbacks and evaluations shall be used to determine if the

brand’s new products receive positive reviews from the customers
and see if there is something that the business can work on to
improve more. This will be done while the new flavors are being
developed and after they come out in the market after the food
research. To ensure that the product is healthier, calorie content
and other pertinent information of the ingredients used will be
monitored.

Attainable A new flavor shall come out every 8 months after the first year of
operations. These new tastes are to be carefully formulated,
through conducting food research, to ensure that they are of
nutritious value, vitamin-enriched and have lesser calories, while
also having a unique savor that will perfectly fit the customers’
preferences. Flavor suggestions and pizza flavors in demand will
also be taken into consideration in introducing new flavors.
Recommendations and feedback by customers will be utilized to
find out what flavors customers want and what ingredients must be
focused on. Ingredients may be adjusted to ensure that the most
nutritious and high-quality ingredients are being used in making
pizza balls. Moreover, a new baked variant of the pizza ball can be
introduced for the more health-conscious customers.

Realistic Cultivation of fresh food concepts is one of the strengths of the

business and transforming bizarre ideas into viable products is its
aim. The time given to earn more funds for the improvement of the
product makes this objective realistic. Through the joint expertise
and experience of the research and production team, along with
the leadership of the owners, this objective is very achievable.
69
HOLY ANGEL UNIVERSITY
Time-bound Food research is the application of scientific knowledge to make
the best out of food resources and minimize waste and therefore
must not be taken lightly. This process shall be achieved by
allotting a span of six months for every new flavor to be developed,
to do experiments, and test the newly-invented products. The new
flavor will be introduced every eight months after the first year of
operations to give time to gain the necessary funds and give time
to develop different flavors. As for the introduction of the baked
variant, the business shall allot one year to earn the necessary
funds for ovens and other equipment and develop this variant.
