BASELINE PROJECT PLAN REPORT
1.0 Introduction
A. Project Overview – Processing system will enable employees to process sales orders efficiently, to track
inventory more effectively, and to serve customers better when they make a purchase.
B. Recommendation – The development will be done by SAD (Systems Analysis and Design, Inc.) The
technical feasibility assessment found that SAD has the experience to handle this project and economic
feasibility assessment favored doing this project due to an estimated return on investment of 18% over
three years. From a legal standpoint, proper licenses will be maintained for the software and data will be
password protected.
2.0 System Description
A. Alternatives – There are alternatives considered for the Nice Mover Booking System. One alternative was
to keep the current method of processing orders. Another alternative was to build an application using
Microsoft Access because the software is reasonably priced.
B. System Description –
Input functions:
• Capture inventory data.
• Capture new member data from membership application form.
• Capture sales order transaction data (including employee number, member number & inventory
number).
• Set sales order date to current date automatically.
• Set sales order status as “open” (the default), “closed” or “cancelled.”
• Track membership information (whether a customer is a member or not).
3.0 Feasibilities
A. Economic Analysis – A return on investment of 18% is estimated for this project. Details about benefits and
costs are listed below
• Tangible benefits include: Faster order processing is expected to increase orders by 5% per month
(approximately RM4200 monthly).
• Database-based inventory management is expected to improve inventory management—estimated
savings of RM14,000 annually.
• Reduce staffing by one part-time employee – RM3200 per month.
B. Technical Analysis –
• Familiarity with Application
• Knowledge of Software
C. Operational Analysis – The proposed system will streamline the order process, provide better management
of inventory, and help keep employee and customer information up-to-date. The proposed system directly
supports Nice Mover Booking System’s business goals to increase revenue and provide better customer
service. BW employees are enthusiastic about automating some of the work they do at Nice Mover Booking
System. Steve Haskins believes this project is essential to Nice Mover Booking System’s success. He also
sees the possibility of expanding to other outlets.
D. Legal and Contractual Analysis – The computer where the database resides is password protected and only
authorized users can access the database. Software licenses will be properly maintained. The proposed
system does not present any legal or contractual issues
E. Political Analysis –
• "Politics is a process of gaining power in order to shift the balance of power in order to achieve your
goals or purposes."
• We can plainly see from these diverse definitions that we have six closely linked concepts where
there is still some debate about specific meanings and where operational definitions for rigorous
social science research are not yet accessible. But, for the sake of conversation and action, I believe
we can understand what we're talking about.
F. Schedules, Timeline, and Resource Analysis –
• This project will be done on 20 May 2023
• This project will cost RM600,000
4.0 Management Issues
A. Team Configuration and Management –
• Project directors need to assess and oversee endangers all through the existence pattern of their
ventures.
• Project directors aren't mystic and — regardless of the amount you plan — a few dangers will
happen.
• Be that as it may, experienced project directors relieve the effect of these bothersome issues by
recognizing "consider the possibility that" situations and conceiving emergency courses of action.
B. Communication Plan – Lack of communication
• A project's communication may make or ruin it.
• An effective team works well together, duties are distributed well, and stakeholders are kept up to
date on project developments.
• Poor communication entails none of the aforementioned.
C. Project Standards and Procedures –
• The development team will consist of four persons, with the project manager working full-time and
the other team members working half-time. The project manager will keep track of all project
artefacts in the project repository.
• When communicating regarding the project, team members will use their business email and will
react within 24 hours throughout the work week. A weekly meeting will be held to report progress,
identify problems, and assign assignments. Unless otherwise specified, this meeting will take place
on Tuesday mornings.
• MS Word, Excel, Project, Oracle SQL Developer, or Oracle Data Modeler will be used to construct
all documents.
D. Other Project-Specific Topics – The cost to manage a server for all our data is RM600,000
