PLANNING’
Basic of town planning is a book written by author G.K Hiraskar and is published by dhanpat
rai publications(p)ltd. The author have published various editions and its reprint in various
years. For example, the 1st edition of this book was published in 1989. The 3rd reprint was
published in 1992, the 2nd revised edition was published in 1993, the 19 th reprint edition was
published in 2015, the total number of pages in this book is 147 and the price of this book is
175 Rs.

G.K.HIRASKAR has contemplated B.E.(CIVIL) , M.I.E.,M.I.S.T.E. also, he was Formerly ,
prof . of structural designing College of Engineering and innovation BIJAPUR.

5.1 - INTRODUCTION
In this chapter author gave introduction about planning and its origin with following aspects
like planning age , concept of planning , concept of town & town planning. The author
additionally characterizes the aims and objectives of town planning its principals and
necessity of town planning. He additionally expressed about the duties and powers of town
planning officer and the great town planners of modern age and their principals such as the
principle by sir Patrick Geddes, sir Ebenezer Howard, Clarence Stein and gives brief
explanation on individuality of town and the forms of planning.

5.2 – GROWTH OF TOWNS


In this section author examined about The Origin of Towns and the Types of towns
additionally the Stages in the development of towns its Methods of External Growth which is
Based on the development of the towns. He has characterized development as per Origin and
