v
ABSTRACT
Reducing waste is of paramount importance nowadays, especially to the

construction Industry. That’s why the use of waste product from different industries

received an increasing attention in the research studies over the past decades. In line

with this, the researchers attempt to utilized waste such as Recycled Concrete

Aggregates and Rice Husk Ash in making concrete. The researchers used Recycled

Concrete Aggregates like Ceramic, Rubbles and Bricks and 20% Rice Husk Ash to

partially replace the cement. The purpose of this study is to determine the

effectiveness of the various types of Recycled Concrete Aggregates with 20% RHA as

partial cement replacement. A total of 45 specimens were made, 40 were used and

cured for 3 curing ages 7,14 and 28 days and were tested using Universal Testing

Machine (UTM) at DPWH Abra, and the other 5 specimens were used in conducting

survey. It was found out in the data gathered on evaluation of respondents, that among

all the specimens, Bricks RCA with 20% RHA got the highest total mean of 4.08, on

the other hand, the Conventional Concrete got the lowest total mean of 3.50. It is

observed from the experimental analysis that the compressive strength of the Rubbles

RCA with 20% RHA as partial cement replacement during 7(15.73 MPa),14(20.10

MPa),and 28(23.16 MPA) days got the highest compressive strength, next to it is the

Normal Aggregates with 20% RHA with a compressive strength of 15.41 MPa during

7 days curing, 19.53 MPa during 14 days curing and 22.88 during the final curing.

Both have compressive strength which are relatively higher than the conventional

concrete. This study will not only helps in reducing the project cost but at the same

vi
time it will help in reducing waste and in preserving natural or the non-renewable

resources.
