TIME SIGNATURE
1. Define time Signature
-Time signatures, also known as meter signatures, show the number of beats in each measure of a piece of
music as well as which note value counts as a beat. After the clef and key signature, time signatures are found at the
beginning of the staff (a series of five lines used to determine each note's pitch).
2. Identify the parts of time signature. Define the Upper number of time signatures and show a charts/table
of the Lower number and its corresponding value.
Upper number - Tells the number of beats in each measure
Lower Number - Tells the kind of note that will receive 1 beat
3. Give example of time signatures and explain the use of above number and below number

4. Give different time signatures with musical notation in each. Count the beat of each measure.

5. The teacher will give an example of musical notation and ask the students to count the beat and every
measure.

D. Generalization-given by students summarizing the lesson

a) The teacher will divide the class into four groups
b) Each group will be given a flash cards
c) Each flashcard has a 1 measure musical piece and students should identify the time signature and recite
the proper counting of each note.
d) The first group to finish the task will receive extra points
e) The teacher will ask for a take aways about the learning for today's discussion
E. Application-parallel to the learning competency/cies
Teacher will giving a seatwork to identify what students learned about the Elements of music (Time Signature)
1. What time signature was used in the first staff?
2. What time signature is used in second staff?
3. Notate the beat of the first and second measures of each staff (10 points each measure)
4. Create your own musical notation in the third measure according to the time signature.

IV. Assignments

A. Reinforcement
