I. Read and answer the following questions:

1. According to Shannon L. Alder, “ One of the greatest regrets in life is being what others
would want you to be , rather than being yourself”. Give your insights on this
quotation.

Answer:
It’s not what you want to be that makes you special but it’s how God made you that
shows your true colors and makes you unique. A lot of people in this world are trying be
someone else to impress others or sometimes they want to fit in. But we should realize
that trying to be like someone else’s won’t get us anywhere in life. You know yourself
better than any one in this world. No one can dictate who you are or who you will be.
Some may give comments based on what they saw, but no one can see the true you
except you. I believe that you should do things that you believe in and not what others
believe in. When you are true to yourself, you allow your individuality and uniqueness to
shine through. Respect the opinions of others but do not conform to stereotypes.
My personal banner is “Hate me for who I am but don’t love me for whom I not”

2. State what was the greatest significant contribution of the Greek philosophers in the
field of education.
ANSWER:
One of the key points of Ancient Greek philosophy was the role of reason and inquiry. It
emphasized logic and championed the idea of impartial, rational observation of the
natural world. But if I have to state the greatest significant contribution of the Greek
philosophers , I would say that it is the SOCRATIC METHOD. Socrathic method is a
formof cooperative argumentative dialogue between individuals, based on asking and
answering questions to stimulate critical thinking and to draw ideas and underlying
presumptions. Basically that is what we are doing inside our classrooms. As educators
we don’t just feed them with information. We let them think through our series of
questions that in the end will lead them in discovering .
3. Which do you think is unique about anthropology: its holism or its comparative
perspective? Can you think of other fields that are holistic and / or comparative?
Answer:
Anthropology is the study of human groups and cultures, both past and present. What
makes it unique from other disciplines is its holistic and comparative perspective of
humanity.(I think its both).
I think Sociology is also holistic. It not only studies the aspects like family, religion or
particular community but the society as a whole.

4. What cultural symbols have the most meaning for you? For your family? For the nation?
Answer:
For me the cultural symbol that have the most meaning is the Flag. It is our nation’s
emblem for freedom. It symbolizes patriotism and sense of nationhood. It also embodies
our aspirations and sentiments in our unceasing quest for independence. The flag says
so many things about our traits, culture and history.

everything!”
