SECOND HOMEWORK
Implementing Rules & Regulations of the National Training Program

A.Define NSTP and its Legal Basis R.A.9163 and explain in your own words.

The National Service Training Program (NSTP) Act of 2001 (R.A. 9163) was enacted
in response to public clamor for reforms in the Reserved Officers Training Corps
(ROTC) Program. This act affirms that the prime duty of the government shall be to
serve and protect its citizens. In turn, it shall be the responsibility of all its citizens to
defend the security of the State; thus, the government may require each citizen to
render personal, military or civil service. In the pursuit of these goals, the youth shall
be motivated, trained, organized, and mobilized in military training, literacy, civic
welfare, and other similar endeavors in service to the nation. The NSTP is a program
aimed at enhancing civic consciousness and defense preparedness in the youth by
developing the ethics of service and patriotism while undergoing training in any of its
program components.

For me this act established the compulsory requirement of National Service Training
Program (NSTP) in all Territory levels of Education. It’s purpose is to prepare young
adults to defend the security of the State through personal, military or civil service to
the country when a need arises. It aims at imparting youth patriotism, nationalism,
and at advancing their involvement in public and civic affairs. The law says that, “The
youth, the most valuable resource of the nation, shall be motivated, trained,
organized and mobilized in military training, literacy, civic welfare and other similar
endeavors in the service of the nation!”

A. Its Guiding Principles Explain in your own words-

As the most valuable resource of the nation, they shall be motivated, trained,
organized, and involved in military, literacy, civic welfare programs, and other similar
endeavors in the service of the nation

C.The Program Components. Define each and give and give an exmple.

“Civic Welfare Training Service” refers to program or activities contributory to the

general welfare and the betterment of life for the members of the community or the
enhancement of its facilities, especially those developed to improving health,
education, environment, entrepreneurship, safety, recreation and morals of the
citizenry
Example: Civic Education and Defense Preparedness Program

“Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC)” is a program institutionalized under sections

level students in order to motivate, train, organize and mobilize them for national
defense preparedness.

“Literacy Training Service” is a program designed to train students to become

teachers of literacy and numeracy skills to school children, out of school youth, and
other segments of society in need of their service.

THIRD HOMEWORK

Answer the following and explain in your own words. Cut a picture that describe each
one and post it after your explanations.

1.) Define What is Community?

A community is a social unit with commonality such as place, norms, religion, values,
customs, or identity. Communities may share a sense of place situated in a given
geographical area or in virtual space through communication platforms.
2.) What are the Elements of Community? Define each and put a picture after each number.

Group of people- A Group is basically an assemblage of people. It can be understood

as a collection of individuals (two or more), who come together and interact with each
other, so as to achieve the objectives of the organization. These are the foundation of
an organization.

Demographics-Demographics is the analysis of the characteristics of populations and

subsets of populations, such as age, race, and gender. Now considered a necessity
in the advertising industry, demographics helps businesses identify those consumers
most likely to buy their products or services.

History-The bodies of knowledge about the past produced by historians, together with
everything that is involved in the production, communication of, and teaching about
that knowledge.
Culture-Culture can be defined as all the ways of life including arts, beliefs and
institutions of a population that are passed down from generation to generation.
Culture has been called "the way of life for an entire society." As such, it includes
codes of manners, dress, language, religion, rituals, art.
Ecomy-An economy is the large set of inter-related production, consumption, and
exchange activities that aid in determining how scarce resources are allocated. The
production, consumption, and distribution of goods and services are used to fulfill the
needs of those living and operating within the economy, which is also referred to as
an economic system.

3.) What is Community Immersion? Explain in your own words.

Community immersion allows individuals who are not familiar with the people and
communities where they will work immerse themselves in these settings. This gives
them the opportunity to reflect on their assumptions, attitudes, and the knowledge
base of their profession and to gain cultural competence. In the education field, it is
an approach that has evolved with changing composition and diversity of schools.

4. ) Why is Community immersion an important approach (strategy) in giving service to the

community? Explain in your own words.
Immersion is an important approach in giving service to the communities because
through this,NSTP students or trainees will be exposed to realities of life that they or
may not belong to Immersion is a way of feeling others needs. Young people are
vested with the obligation to defend the security of the state and in fulfillment
therof, the government may require each citizen to render personal military or civil
service (Section 2,NSTP Act of 20002) whether in times of peace or war it is clearly
stated that the youth as the hope of the fatherland is emphasized to help build a
community worthy for all.
