The research instrument that was utilized to gather

data was a questionnaire made by the researchers. It has two

parts: 1. personal data sheet, 2. Factors affecting the

choice of strand. The first part has questions about the

respondent’s name, gender, economic status and family’s

occupational background. The second part was a checklist

that determines the factors that affects the choice of

strand among the respondents. The questionnaire underwent

the reliability and validity testing since it was personally

made by the researchers to ascertain its validity. Validity

will determine how good a test is for a particular

situation; reliability will tell how trustworthy a score on

that test will be and cannot draw valid conclusions from a

test score unless sure that the test is reliable. A pilot

testing was also conducted through the grade 11 students.

The questionnaire was declared valid because of the result

of Cronbach’s alpha numeric of .081.

Data Gathering Procedures

The instrument when validated and pilot tested

indicated the beginning of the data gathering procedures.

The questionnaire was then transferred to a google form

test. Google Forms is a survey administration software

included as part of the free, web-based Google Docs Editors

suite offered by Google (Wikipedia.com). Before

administering the questionnaires, the researchers asked

permission to the principal’s office then asked the

permission of the respondents’ adviser. A link was sent to

the respondents for answering. A respondent who cannot open

the link was sent with a screen shot of the question, then

encoded to the google form to be counted.

The data gathered was statistically treated for the

interpretation and analysis.

The data that gathered in the study were subjected to

statistical treatment. The researcher used the following
