GTE Statement of Purpose

Respected Sir/Madam

We are presently in the middle of a technological and digital revolution that will radically
transform our lives. I’m quite enthusiastic about the prospect of dedicating my academic and
professional career to the vibrant and rapidly expanding profession in the field of computer
science. Innovation and digitalization play a critical role by providing technological answers to
many of our most urgent issues. For those of us who see technology for what it is: the
manifestation of humanity’s resolve to study the application of every new instrument or process
logically and methodically, getting a complete understanding becomes not only inspirational, but
ultimately a necessary undertaking.

I'm writing this statement of purpose with much pleasure, summing up my academic background
as well as my future educational and career goals. I'm writing to explain why I chose Australia as
my study destination, and I've attempted to provide as many facts and data as possible for your
consideration.

Introduction

My name is Dinesh Bist (born 07-04-2004), a positive, honest, self-sufficient, and forward-
thinking person. My family is made up of three people: my parents and me. We
permanently dwell in Parigaun, Shailyashikhar 9, Darchula, Nepal. My father Mr. Dhan Singh
Bist owns an electronics store and is a college professor, while my mother, Mrs. Parwati Bist, is
a stay-at-home mom. My parents, who raised me in a nuclear household, have always been a
huge source of inspiration in all of my endeavors, and it was with their support that I decided to
pursue my education abroad.

Academic Background

I started my schooling at Little Buddha Academy and accomplished the Secondary Education
Examination (SEE) in 2018 with a 3.55 GPA. My parents have always encouraged me and given
me sound advice on how to find the right career path for me since I was a child. Despite being an
average student, I excelled in topics such as math and accounting. I have some incredible
teachers that persuaded me to learn novel disciplines that link many different researches and
achievements. So, I joined Management faculty in the same school and finished my higher
education in 2020 by securing 2.97 GPA.

Although I was a management student, I always have my good interest on computers and other
gadgets. With the guidance of a competent trainer, I completed training programs in HTML,
CSS3, Javascript, Jquery Bootstraps and web application development for a period of 5 months
(03/03/2021 to 14/08/2021) in Global Training Institute, Baghbazar, Kathmandu. It has always
been exciting to know that being involved in technology gives right directions to know and
observe the impact that it has on the world. It is my hobby and desire to uniquely create and
expand IT skills and knowledge. As time has progressed, technology has played important role to
solve problems in more efficient way, and so the demand for IT specialists has increased
worldwide. Thus, a career in Information and Technology is vast and versatile career due to its
wide perspective. So, with the intention to study IT in an English-speaking country, I decided to
take the IELTS test. I appeared in IELTS examination on 12th, February, 2022 and secured 5.5
overall (Writing- 5.5 Reading- 5.0, Listening-6.0, Speaking- 6.0).

Internship Experience

I have also accumulated relevant internship experience after the completion of the
aforementioned trainings, enriching my knowledge, inter-personal skills and maturity level.
Interning as a web developer Global Training Institute from 01/09/2021 to 30/12/2021, I have
gained the basic understanding of web development and technical breakthroughs. I believe this
perspective will enable me to bring a wealth of knowledge to my studies in IT, allowing me to
project my ideas and work to a wider audience, or even be able to specify my work to a target
audience. I believe that the diploma and advanced diploma degree from Australia will offer me
specialized knowledge, skill set and excellent exposure which will help me achieve the goals I
set for myself at this juncture. I am fascinated by the extensive ongoing research at Australian
College of Professions (ACP) and yearn to be able to work under the supervision of eminent
faculty members.

Why Australia?

Furthermore, I did intense research in top destination countries like Canada, USA, UK, and
Australia with an objective that getting a degree from an English-speaking country would further
enhance my knowledge and skills. I then compared these destinations on various aspects like fee
structure, quality education, livability, policies, weather-condition etc.

Even though the countries like USA and UK remains prestigious and top ranked for higher
education for the international students, the cost of education and living expenses are more
expensive. Similarly, the admissions process for the UK and the USA is also unnecessarily time-
consuming whereas the entry level examination for instance, GMAT, GRE, TOEFL etc. are very
tough in the Universities and may take one full crucial year for admission. Furthermore, the
weather condition in North America is cold and harsh which is intolerable for me. Though
Canada has excellent reputation for its high standard level of education, it would be hard for me
to cope with the weather conditions. After all, I ended up choosing Australia for continuing my
higher education.

Similarly, Australia is the third most popular destination for international students in the English-
speaking world after the United States and the United Kingdom. Many international students
prefer Australia for their studies because of the friendly natives and the modern quality education
offered by the Australian colleges and universities. It has excellent international reputation for
providing quality education due to which it is best place to invest my effort and time. In addition,
Australia is vibrant and culturally diverse place and also comforts the students with homely and
innovative environment. Being on the forefront of technology, research and techniques;
Universities and Colleges in Australia offer best teaching technique on the highly advanced
resources. Thus, academic experience in Australia is highly valued all over the world and the
Australian graduates are even sought by professionals in the international arena. Furthermore,
Australia is a leading global education powerhouse with some of the world’s best educators
providing a wide range of quality education options. It contains 8 out of 100 top universities
around the globe and also ranked 9th in the World University System ranking according to the
recent facts. Apart from quality education, Australia has humid sub-tropical and temperate
weather condition which makes easier for me to live as similar to my home country. Likewise,
Australia has higher standard living, welcoming natives, warm culture and traditions, beautiful
nature and standard rules and procedures regulated for further encouraged the international
students. So, Australia is regarded as one of the safest and friendliest study destinations for
international students.

Moreover, Australia has frame to protect the right of international students studying in Australia
with Education Services for Overseas Student (ESOS) Act. It implements Tuition Protection
Service (TPS) to assist international student to complete their studies in another course or with
another education provider or to receive a refund of their unspent tuition fees. Furthermore,
Australian postgraduate degree is accompanied with post study work (PSW) options that will
facilitate graduates with an opportunity of real workplace exposure in globally accepted business
standards. Other than these Australia is said to be a vibrant, multicultural and harmonious
country likewise in Australia I will get to live around people from every corner of the world and
will learn many things about other cultures. So, considering all these points, it made me easier to
choose Australia for continuing my higher education.

Why not in Nepal?

Though there are many educational institutions here in Nepal that offers the course I am planning
to pursue, the education system here isn’t as flexible as that in Australia. Similarly, the institutes
here do not emphasize on practical learning and stress on theoretical knowledge. Thus, a
recognized degree from an institution like ACP holds much more value than from the institutions
here. Moreover, studying IT in Australia gives many new learning opportunities in the global
industry. It will create proper infrastructure, creativity and innovative teaching methodology and
advanced technological resources to deliver world class education. So, I will get to learn the
importance of theoretical and practical experiences in more specialized way. Besides that,
studying in Australia gives amazing adventure and is a perfect place to pursue my higher
education due to its unique blend of individuals from all over the world. So, studying in Australia
is worthwhile to attain a diversified experience.

Why Sydney?

I have chosen Sydney over other cities because this beautiful city has remarkable collections to
offer the international students. It is filled with natural beauty and has kept close connection with
great infrastructures to live and study. It is a welcoming, safe, and multi-cultural city that
contributes to a positive learning environment. With the presence of Sydney Harbour, Sydney
Opera House, Taronga Zoo, Darling Harbour, Sydney Habour Bridge, and other attractions, it is
the focus of attraction. It offers pleasant weather and convenient public transportation, which is
beneficial to students like me. Apart from these, a few of my known friends are studying and
living in Sydney, which would be a better support for me in the early days of my life in Australia
to cope with a completely new environment.

Why Diploma and Advanced Diploma of Information Technology?

I have decided to choose Diploma and Advanced Diploma of Information Technology because it
provides broad knowledge and skills about ICT, programming web design and multimedia,
networking, databases, software testing, etc. It is designed to provide practical training from
technical range of information and communication technology discipline. It gives specialization
in digital technologies which manages IT requirements in any industrial field. On this level, I can
learn core parts of ICT which will provide technical, theoretical and communicational skills and
utilize first- hand opportunities and support. My passion for IT came almost purely from learning
experiences through cousins from IT background. Their dedication and enthusiasm as early
innovators have always motivated me to take one step forward into Information and Technology.
As IT has been part of our life, it has covered wide aspects of management, science and analysis
of information. It solves challenges, variety of work, and often gives relaxed working
environment. As a result, different areas like e-commerce, mobile telecommunications,
networking, and security genuinely demands IT professionals at every level and across all
industry sectors. With such high demand for IT skills and shortage of qualified and experienced
personnel, I made a decision to start my study from the pathway course, Diploma and Advanced
Diploma of Information Technology. Choosing this course gives strong foundation of knowledge
and surely prepare for me to adjust in higher education. So, IT sector has valuable scope with the
change of time. My passion for IT has become stronger and I have always kept IT as a first
priority where I can truly be dedicated to learn and build for shaping a future career. A degree in
Information and Technology will make me capable to practice modern IT networks and its
transformation in all sectors. With a base of IT qualification, I will have much opportunity to
further grow on and get possible outcomes like Network Administrator, Developer, IT
Programmer, Program Lead, Project Lead, Database Administrator, Business Analyst, Project
Managers, Office coordinator and so on in the future.

Why Australian College of Professions?

After detailed research about Universities and Colleges, I made a decision to study at Australian
College of Professions (ACP) located in Sydney, Australia. ACP is a reputed education provider
in Australia which offers accredited vocational courses and training. The courses are practically
focused on IT, Leadership management and Website developments. It has focused on delivering
a quality educational experience with choice in degrees, experiences life-styles benefits, modern
facilities and a commitment to support for students. It mainly focuses to address and sustain the
need for quality vocational training and skills to meet the growing needs of workforce. Quality
education, individual attention and adequate facilities and resources are the main benefits that
have motivated me to study in ACP. Similarly, ACP is the fast-growing institution in Australia
and has kept unique spot as the institution focus on IT study in Sydney. The classes are well-
structured and give good learning experience on technical and theoretical knowledge for long-
term benefit. It has equipped a proper technical skills and knowledge through training package
for future career enhancement. Apart from that, ACP's qualified teachers are dedicated to give
practical approaches of IT study where an excellent coaching for students can enhance flexible
learning environment to follow a career path. Similarly, ACP is a registered to National Training
Australia in Sydney to offer education in a specialized field of IT in website development, and its
objective is to develop the technical skills and knowledge of students and give good outcomes in
a specific field of Information Technology. I am confident that ACP will bring new hope and
vision with a viewpoint of understanding IT realities and give necessary tools to succeed in IT
career. So, keeping all the factors in my mind, I decided to study Diploma and Advanced
Diploma of Information Technology in ACP.

Career Plan

Completing the distinguished program at ACP will enable me to make major contributions to the
security of law abiding, honest citizens worldwide. We have a long way to go in Nepal towards
the goal of building stable and productive economies that are able to compete effectively in a
global economy. Clearly, we will not be able to make much progress in the absence of cyber
security, the cause to which I seek to devote my professional life. This program is my first choice
because I seek a broad and thoroughgoing exposure to the broad range of processes and practices
related to the protection of networks, computers, programs and data from attack, damage or
unauthorized access. I am most eager to contribute to Nepalese society by using the knowledge
that I will gain from the program to protecting the information and systems that we rely on every
day whether at home, work or school. In 10 years from now, I see myself working as a Senior
Information Security Officer working with a scientific, engineering, or technology applications
company. I keenly look forward to a long and productive career working with teams of cyber
security architects and consultants involved in the design and implementation of diverse and
challenging solutions for commercial and large enterprise clients. I am especially looking
forward to being part of the rapid and exciting advances being made in the area of cloud
computing in a search for advancement in scientific applications, my special concern is
performance and storage issues with high performance computing clusters. I am devoted to
solving the technical problems faced by cloud computing and improving its infrastructure to
make it the best solution for high performance computing applications.

I am convinced that the best way that I might be able to serve my country is to immerse myself
in research in the areas of Information Security and Web Data. I am a self-motivated and hard-
working person, and I am confident that my background provides me with much to contribute to
the diversity of this diploma program. There are, of course, so many ways to learn, and in
addition to the academic rigors of the program, I look forward to learning from my peers from all
over the world, especially those that come from developing countries, so that we can compare
notes and help each other to promote the interests of our peoples. Essentially, those of us from
the Developing World want the same thing that other people want for the future, a laptop
computer for all of our children, and the strength, power, and freedom that is required to take full
advantage of this liberating and empowering technology. As Nepal in rapidly marching towards
technological advancements, there are lucrative career prospects for a skilled professional. As an
IT security officer, I can easily grab employment opportunities that pays a minimum of NPR.
150,000, which will obviously increase as I sharpen myself. This way, every day can be a unique
chance for me to learn more, and eventually grow as an adept problem solver.

Incentives to Return Back

I would like to assure that I would return back to Nepal after the completion of my study in
Australia. With all the necessary skills in my possession, I would work as an IT professional and
contribute in the development of myself, my society and the country as a whole. Furthermore, I
do have my family here, and as my parents are getting older day by day, it is my prime
responsibility to look after them and their properties. I will return with the hope of becoming a
good son, a good professional and a good citizen, and would like to contribute to the nation as
much as I can.

Financial Arrangements

Studying in Australia is obviously expensive in comparison to my home country. However,

looking forward to my future, the qualification that I will achieve after graduating from Australia
is highly rewarding one than in my country. I am aware about my expenses which include tuition
fee, living cost, traveling cost, insurance, and other miscellaneous cost. Furthermore, I would
like clarify that my father is my sole sponsor. He will provide me the financial aids for my living
and studying in Australia. My father has an annual income of NPR 1,946,000 (AUD$ 21,481.39)
from his business (Daneshwor Nagarjun Electronics) and generates NPR 660,000 (AUD$
7,285.57) from his employment as a professor in Gokuleshwor Multiple Campus. Beside he has
secured an education loan of NPR 4,500,000 (AUD$ 49674.35) from Nepal Credit and
Commerce Bank Limited. Thus, I think this income and amount in bank will be sufficient
enough for my further studies and accommodation in Australia. My father is aware of the money
that he will have to pay for my entire stay in Australia until completion of my study.

Visa conditions

I have understood about my visa condition under subclass 500. I will duly follow the Visa
conditions set by the Institute of Technology Australia and DIBP (Department of Immigration
and Border Protection) condition. The visa conditions in brief are as follow:

1. I need to maintain minimum 80% of attendance record during my course studies.

2. I am allowed to work 40 hours per fortnight on part time basis.

3. I must be enrolled to study full time.

4. I must maintain and continue to maintain the OSHC (Overseas Student Health Cover) for the
duration of student visa.

5. I must notify the collage or Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) within 7
days about the change in residential address.

Declaration

At last, I want to assure that I am aware about the rules, regulation and visa conditions of
education provider and government of Australia and also want to clarify that my living in
Australia will be temporary since I will be there only to gain higher education study. I declare
that the above statements are true and correct. I understand that incorrect and misleading
statements may result in refusal of my admission or student visa application. So, I hope you will
consider my application and provide me with an opportunity to study in ACP, Sydney, Australia.

Thank you in advance for your kind cooperation and support.

Yours Sincerely,

Sandesh Bista
