1 INTRODUCTION
This document contains turn-over calculations for pipe silo in the new Tulcea pipe workshop.
Calculations are based on experience from typical projects and expected volumes in the new workshop.

1.1 CONDITIONS
Expected production in pipe workshop is 240 spools per shift.
Average length a fabricated pipe spool is 3.5 meters.

Consumption of pipes will then be:

(240 spools) * (3.5m/spool) / (6m/pipe length)
= 140 pipe lengths per shift.

1.4 TURNOVER IN PIPE SILO, PR. DIMENSION

As calculated in ch. 1.1, consumption of pipe lengths (6m) are 140 pipe lengths per shift.

The following calculations are made with the following reservations:

- It is believed that the consumption of small dimension pipe length would be bigger than
consumption of large dimension pipe lengths, due to the shorter time used for welding, cutting,
bending etc of the small dimension pipes compared to large dimension pipes. This is not taken into
account in the below calculations.
- DN 350 through-rack is not included in the calculations.
- Uses of different wall thicknesses for the different dimensions are not taken into account.

1.5 SUGGESTED MEASURES / ACTIONS

If only one dimension is being produced for one or more shifts, it should be considered to fill up other racks
with this dimension to avoid running out of pipes.

The consumption of the different wall thicknesses should be evaluated, to avoid large stock of seldom used
wall thicknesses.

Careful planning and coordination of production will be the key to optimal use of the pipe silo.
