Preliminary Design
The designer only used the preliminary dimensions indicated in this sheet for the design of
structural elements including footings, columns, beams, and slabs to determine the first dead load
that the beam will carry during framework analysis. Additionally, it was employed in the
computation of structural specifics. The dimensions shown may alter if there is a problem, if they
cannot bear the necessary load, or even for practical or financial considerations.
Slab Dimension:
Second (2nd) Floor
Concrete slab thickness = 150mm
Note: This slab is poured monolithically to the beam.
Roof Deck
Concrete slab thickness = 150mm
Beam Dimension:
Beam = 300x400 mm T-Beam (Exterior)
Beam = 300x400 mm T-Beam (Interior)
Loa Assumption:
Dead Load – 25.0 kN/m
Live Load – 20.0 kN/m
Wind Load – 16.78 kN/m
Seismic Load – 51.76 kN/m
Load Combination:
WDL = 1.2 (25.0) = 30 kN/m
WLL = 1.6 (20.0) = 32 kN/m
Wu = 30 kN/m + 32 kN/m = 62 kN/m
DEAD LOAD ANALYSIS
Tributary Area for 2nd Floor
Note:
Values in the tributary area are equivalent uniform load dead load.
Super imposed dead load (excluding wt. of the slab.) = 3.00 kpa
Slab thickness, h = 200 mm
Dead load of the slab = 3.531 kpa
Unfactored floor pressure, W = 3.531 + 3.00 = 6.531 kpa
Slab 1:

Values in the tributary area are equivalent uniform load dead load.
Super imposed dead load (excluding wt. of the slab.) = 1.50 kpa
Slab thickness;
Concrete = 150 mm
Bituminous Surface = 10 mm
Dead load of the slab = 3.531 kpa (concrete)
Dead load of asphalt = 0.10 kpa
Unfactored floor pressure, W = 1.50 + 3.531 + 0.10 = 5.131 kpa
Slab 1:

Wtriangle = = = 5.99 KN/m
