KITCHEN TYPES AND LAYOUT

The kitchen is an essential feature of every home. Aside from its purpose, the kitchen has
developed from a place to produce food to a social space where family or friends may gather while
cooking.

A. Single-wall or one-wall Kitchen

In a single wall kitchen, cabinets and appliances are mounted along one wall. This solution
saves room and is ideal for flats or small households. Since it takes up the least amount of room, the
one-wall kitchen is quite common in studio apartments and loft apartments. All three work centers are
situated in a straight line, based on a configuration that is also straight.

B. Galley Kitchen

Galley kitchens have two parallel walls separated by a walk-through. It makes good use of
space in tiny, narrow kitchens. It is also known as the parallel kitchen. It works perfectly as a one-
cook kitchen and is great for tiny settings. It is also known as a walk-through kitchen because it
consists of two parallel walls that are opposite one another and a walkway in the between.

C. L-shaped Kitchen

An L-shaped kitchen plan is the most popular option. Two adjacent walls that are
perpendicular to one another make up a l-shaped kitchen. Particularly if they open out into another
room, they are a great solution for kitchens that are situated in a corner.
It is best suited for modest family houses with limited floor space. The arrangement makes
use of two L-shaped walls for cupboards, counters, and appliances, resulting in an efficient design for
integrating the three work stations. The traffic flow is optimized by this arrangement.
Any size kitchen would benefit from an L-shaped design.

D. U-shaped Kitchen

U-shaped kitchens contain three adjoining walls of counter space and cabinets. It adds more
floor, counter, and cabinet space, resulting in an efficient work triangle that saves you time and energy

when preparing meals.

E. Island Kitchen

Island kitchens are fast overtaking other kitchen remodeling

styles in popularity. To increase utility, islands are frequently added
to single-wall or l-shaped kitchens.

D. Peninsula Kitchen/ G- shaped

kitchens, including more storage, counter space, eating area, and distinct work stations. A peninsula
kitchen has a smaller footprint than a standalone island, yet it might seem cramped at times.
